Why did God
create such a big universe, if all that matters is right here on earth?
Here is a partial list of the fine-tuned elements of the universe that contribute to the possibility of life on earth:
The mass density and expansion rate of the universe, the average size and distribution of stars and galaxies throughout
the universe, the strong and weak nuclear force constants, the constants and ratios related to the
gravitational and electromagnetic forces, the figures and ratios related to proton and electron mass,
the proton and neutron density and decay rates, the space energy density and entropy rates, the uniformity
of radiation, the existence, ratio and decay rates of numerous chemical elements, the ratio of exotic matter
to ordinary matter, and the existence and impact of quasars, black holes, dark matter, etc.
Here is a partial list of the fine-tuned elements of our solar system that contribute to the possibility of life on earth
Electromagnetic and gravitational forces that allow the formation and stability of the right kind of star; the perfect color of the
sun, which allows for the perfect level of photosynthesis; the mass of the sun and its distance from the earth,
which affects multiple factors such as radiation levels, tidal forces, rotational periods, water cycles, etc.;
the earth's gravity, magnetic field, axial tilt, rotation, crust thickness, oxygen/nitrogen ratio, carbon
dioxide, water vapor, ozone levels, etc.
So, why did God create such a massive, fine-tuned universe? Astronomer and former atheist Sir Fred Hoyle
states, "'commonsense interpretation of the facts is that a super-intelligence has monkeyed with physics,
as well as chemistry and biology, and that there are no blind forces in nature." Evolutionist and atheist, Prof. Richard Dawkins, quoting William Paley in his book, “The Blind Watchmaker,” continues, "We have seen that living things are too improbable and too beautifully
'designed' to have come into existence by chance." Dr. Michael Denton, senior research fellow in human
molecular genetics at the University of Otago in New Zealand, concludes, "All the evidence available in the
biological sciences supports the core proposition … that the cosmos is a specially designed whole with life
and mankind as its fundamental goal and purpose." "Simply stated, the miracle of God's finely-tuned
universe declares the majesty of His handiwork and allows for the existence of life on earth."
