  • "How can you possibly ask me to give Abishag to Adonijah?" Solomon demanded. "You might as well be asking me to give him the kingdom! You know that he is my older brother, and that he has Abiathar the priest and Joab son of Zeruiah on his side." - 1 Kings 2:22


  • Their sisters were named Zeruiah and Abigail. Zeruiah had three sons named Abishai, Joab, and Asahel. - 1 Chronicles 2:16


  • David had said to his troops, "Whoever leads the attack against the Jebusites will become the commander of my armies!" And Joab, the son of David's sister Zeruiah, led the attack, so he became the commander of David's armies. - 1 Chronicles 11:6


  • Abishai son of Zeruiah destroyed eighteen thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt. - 1 Chronicles 18:12


  • Joab son of Zeruiah was commander of the army. Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was the royal historian. - 1 Chronicles 18:15


  • Shelomoth and his relatives also cared for the items dedicated to the LORD by Samuel the seer, Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner, and Joab son of Zeruiah. All the other dedicated items were in their care, too. - 1 Chronicles 26:28
