(Read Words Part 1 First)

  • These are the words of Jeremiah son of Hilkiah, one of the priests from Anathoth, a town in the land of Benjamin. - Jeremiah 1:1

  • Then the LORD touched my mouth and said, "See, I have put my words in your mouth! - Jeremiah 1:9

  • "O my people, listen to the words of the LORD! Have I been like a desert to Israel? Have I been to them a land of darkness? Why then do my people say, `At last we are free from God! We won't have anything to do with him anymore!' - Jeremiah 2:31

  • Therefore, go and say these words to Israel,* `This is what the LORD says: O Israel, my faithless people, come home to me again, for I am merciful. I will not be angry with you forever.1 - Jeremiah 3:12

  • God's prophets are windbags full of words with no divine authority. Their predictions of disaster will fall on themselves!' " - Jeremiah 5:13

  • Listen, you women, to the words of the LORD; open your ears to what he has to say. Teach your daughters to wail; teach one another how to lament. - Jeremiah 9:20

  • I had been as unaware as a lamb on the way to its slaughter. I had no idea that they were planning to kill me! "Let's destroy this man and all his words," they said. "Let's kill him, so his name will be forgotten forever." - Jeremiah 11:19

  • Your words are what sustain me. They bring me great joy and are my heart's delight, for I bear your name, O LORD God Almighty. - Jeremiah 15:16

  • The LORD replied, "If you return to me, I will restore you so you can continue to serve me. If you speak words that are worthy, you will be my spokesman. You are to influence them; do not let them influence you! - Jeremiah 15:19

  • Go out into the valley of the son of Hinnom by the entrance to the Potsherd Gate, and repeat to them the words that I give you. - Jeremiah 19:2

  • Whenever I speak, the words come out in a violent outburst. "Violence and destruction!" I shout. So these messages from the LORD have made me a household joke. - Jeremiah 20:8

  • My heart is broken because of the false prophets, and I tremble uncontrollably. I stagger like a drunkard, like someone overcome by wine, because of the holy words the LORD has spoken against them. - Jeremiah 23:9

  • If they had listened to me, they would have spoken my words and turned my people from their evil ways. - Jeremiah 23:22

  • But stop using this phrase, `prophecy from the LORD.' For people are using it to give authority to their own ideas, turning upside down the words of our God, the living God, the LORD Almighty. - Jeremiah 23:36

  • But listen now to the solemn words I speak to you in the presence of all these people. - Jeremiah 28:7

  • Baruch read Jeremiah's words to all the people from the Temple room of Gemariah son of Shaphan. This room was just off the upper courtyard of the Temple, near the New Gate entrance. - Jeremiah 36:10

  • So Baruch explained, "Jeremiah dictated them to me word by word, and I wrote down his words with ink on this scroll." - Jeremiah 36:18
