(Read Wilderness Part 1 First)

  • In those days John the Baptist began preaching in the Judean wilderness. His message was, - Matthew 3:1


  • Isaiah had spoken of John when he said, "He is a voice shouting in the wilderness: `Prepare a pathway for the Lord's coming! Make a straight road for him!' "*2 - Matthew 3:3


  • People from Jerusalem and from every section of Judea and from all over the Jordan Valley went out to the wilderness to hear him preach. - Matthew 3:5


  • Then Jesus was led out into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit to be tempted there by the Devil. - Matthew 4:1


  • When John's disciples had gone, Jesus began talking about him to the crowds. "Who is this man in the wilderness that you went out to see? Did you find him weak as a reed, moved by every breath of wind? - Matthew 11:7


  • Or were you expecting to see a man dressed in expensive clothes? Those who dress like that live in palaces, not out in the wilderness. - Matthew 11:8


  • The disciples replied, "And where would we get enough food out here in the wilderness for all of them to eat?" - Matthew 15:33


  • He is a voice shouting in the wilderness: `Prepare a pathway for the Lord's coming! Make a straight road for him!'* "3 - Mark 1:3


  • This messenger was John the Baptist. He lived in the wilderness and was preaching that people should be baptized to show that they had turned from their sins and turned to God to be forgiven.*4 - Mark 1:4


  • People from Jerusalem and from all over Judea traveled out into the wilderness to see and hear John. And when they confessed their sins, he baptized them in the Jordan River. - Mark 1:5


  • Immediately the Holy Spirit compelled Jesus to go into the wilderness. - Mark 1:12


  • The next morning Jesus awoke long before daybreak and went out alone into the wilderness to pray. - Mark 1:35


  • "How are we supposed to find enough food for them here in the wilderness?" his disciples asked. - Mark 8:4


  • John grew �MDNM�up and became strong in spirit. Then he lived out in the wilderness until he began his public ministry to Israel. - Luke 1:80


  • Annas and Caiaphas were the high priests. At this time a message from God came to John son of Zechariah, who was living out in the wilderness. - Luke 3:2

  • Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan River. He was led by the Spirit to go out into the wilderness, - Luke 4:1
