(Read Wealth Part 1 First)

  • Wealth makes many "friends"; poverty drives them away. - Proverbs 19:4

  • Parents can provide their sons with an inheritance of houses and wealth, but only the LORD can give an understanding wife. - Proverbs 19:14

  • Wealth created by lying is a vanishing mist and a deadly trap.*1 - Proverbs 21:6

  • The wise have wealth and luxury, but fools spend whatever they get. - Proverbs 21:20

  • The man who loves wisdom brings joy to his father, but if he hangs around with prostitutes, his wealth is wasted. - Proverbs 29:3

  • God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy to those who please him. But if a sinner becomes wealthy, God takes the wealth away and gives it to those who please him. Even this, however, is meaningless, like chasing the wind. - Ecclesiastes 2:26

  • This is the case of a man who is all alone, without a child or a brother, yet who works hard to gain as much wealth as he can. But then he asks himself, "Who am I working for? Why am I giving up so much pleasure now?" It is all so meaningless and depressing. - Ecclesiastes 4:8

  • Those who love money will never have enough. How absurd to think that wealth brings true happiness! - Ecclesiastes 5:10

  • The more you have, the more people come to help you spend it. So what is the advantage of wealth--except perhaps to watch it run through your fingers! - Ecclesiastes 5:11

  • People who live only for wealth come to the end of their lives as naked and empty-handed as on the day they were born. - Ecclesiastes 5:15

  • And it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and the good health to enjoy it. To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life--that is indeed a gift from God. - Ecclesiastes 5:19

  • God gives great wealth and honor to some people and gives them everything they could ever want, but then he doesn't give them the health to enjoy it. They die, and others get it all! This is meaningless--a sickening tragedy. - Ecclesiastes 6:2

  • I have observed something else in this world of ours. The fastest runner doesn't always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn't always win the battle. The wise are often poor, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don't always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being at the right place at the right time. - Ecclesiastes 9:11

  • But in the end her businesses will give their profits to the LORD. Her wealth will not be hoarded but will be used to provide good food and fine clothing for the LORD's priests. - Isaiah 23:18

  • In that day ungodly fools will not be heroes. Wealthy cheaters will not be respected as outstanding citizens. - Isaiah 32:5

  • Your eyes will shine, and your hearts will thrill with joy, for merchants from around the world will come to you. They will bring you the wealth of many lands. - Isaiah 60:5

  • They are the ships of Tarshish, reserved to bring the people of Israel home. They will bring their wealth with them, and it will bring great honor to the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he will fill you with splendor. - Isaiah 60:9
