(Read Water Part 1 First)

  • Moses said this about the tribes of Joseph: "May their land be blessed by the LORD with the choice gift of rain from the heavens, and water from beneath the earth; - Deuteronomy 33:13

  • The priests will be carrying the Ark of the LORD, the Lord of all the earth. When their feet touch the water, the flow of water will be cut off upstream, and the river will pile up there in one heap." - Joshua 3:13

  • Now it was the harvest season, and the Jordan was overflowing its banks. But as soon as the feet of the priests who were carrying the Ark touched the water at the river's edge, - Joshua 3:15

  • the water began piling up at a town upstream called Adam, which is near Zarethan. And the water below that point flowed on to the Dead Sea* until the riverbed was dry. Then all the people crossed over near the city of Jericho.3 - Joshua 3:16

  • Let them live. But we will make them chop the wood and carry the water for the entire community." So the Israelites kept their promise to the Gibeonites. - Joshua 9:21

  • May you be cursed! From now on you will chop wood and carry water for the house of my God." - Joshua 9:23

  • But that day he made the Gibeonites the woodchoppers and water carriers for the people of Israel and for the altar of the LORD--wherever the LORD would choose to build it. That arrangement continues to this day. - Joshua 9:27

  • They established their camp around the water near Merom to fight against Israel. - Joshua 11:5

  • So Joshua and his warriors traveled to the water near Merom and attacked suddenly. - Joshua 11:7

  • From there the border extended from the top of the mountain to the spring at the waters of Nephtoah,* and from there to the towns on Mount Ephron. Then it turned toward Baalah (that is, Kiriath-jearim).4 - Joshua 15:9

  • The allotment to the descendants of Joseph extended from the Jordan River near Jericho, east of the waters of Jericho, through the wilderness and into the hill country of Bethel. - Joshua 16:1

  • The southern boundary began at the outskirts of Kiriath-jearim. From there it ran westward* to the spring at the waters of Nephtoah,*2 - Joshua 18:15

  • "Please give me some water," he said. "I'm thirsty." So she gave him some milk to drink and covered him again. - Judges 4:19

  • Listen to the village musicians* gathered at the watering holes. They recount the righteous victories of the LORD, and the victories of his villagers in Israel. Then the people of the LORD marched down to the city gates.1 - Judges 5:11

  • So God caused water to gush out of a hollow in the ground at Lehi, and Samson was revived as he drank. Then he named that place "The Spring of the One Who Cried Out,"* and it is still in Lehi to this day.2 - Judges 15:19

  • See which part of the field they are harvesting, and then follow them. I have warned the young men not to bother you. And when you are thirsty, help yourself to the water they have drawn from the well." - Ruth 2:9

  • So they gathered there and, in a great ceremony, drew water from a well and poured it out before the LORD. They also went without food all day and confessed that they had sinned against the LORD. So it was at Mizpah that Samuel became Israel's judge. - 1 Samuel 7:6
