(Read Spirit Part 1 First)

  • And whenever this evil spirit seizes him, it throws him violently to the ground and makes him foam at the mouth and grind his teeth and become rigid.* So I asked your disciples to cast out the evil spirit, but they couldn't do it."2 - Mark 9:18

  • So they brought the boy. But when the evil spirit saw Jesus, it threw the child into a violent convulsion, and he fell to the ground, writhing and foaming at the mouth. - Mark 9:20

  • The evil spirit often makes him fall into the fire or into water, trying to kill him. Have mercy on us and help us. Do something if you can." - Mark 9:22

  • When Jesus saw that the crowd of onlookers was growing, he rebuked the evil spirit. "Spirit of deafness and muteness," he said, "I command you to come out of this child and never enter him again!" - Mark 9:25

  • Then the spirit screamed and threw the boy into another violent convulsion and left him. The boy lay there motionless, and he appeared to be dead. A murmur ran through the crowd, "He's dead." - Mark 9:26

  • Afterward, when Jesus was alone in the house with his disciples, they asked him, "Why couldn't we cast out that evil spirit?" - Mark 9:28

  • For David himself, speaking under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, said, `The LORD said to my Lord, Sit in honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies beneath your feet.'*3 - Mark 12:36

  • But when you are arrested and stand trial, don't worry about what to say in your defense. Just say what God tells you to. Then it is not you who will be speaking, but the Holy Spirit. - Mark 13:11

  • Keep alert and pray. Otherwise temptation will overpower you. For though the spirit is willing enough, the body is weak." - Mark 14:38

  • for he will be great in the eyes of the Lord. He must never touch wine or hard liquor, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even before his birth.*2 - Luke 1:15

  • He will be a man with the spirit and power of Elijah, the prophet of old. He will precede the coming of the Lord, preparing the people for his arrival. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and he will change disobedient minds to accept godly wisdom."*3 - Luke 1:17

  • The angel replied, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby born to you will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God. - Luke 1:35

  • At the sound of Mary's greeting, Elizabeth's child leaped within her, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. - Luke 1:41

  • Then his father, Zechariah, was filled with the Holy Spirit and gave this prophecy: - Luke 1:67

  • John grew �MDNM�up and became strong in spirit. Then he lived out in the wilderness until he began his public ministry to Israel. - Luke 1:80

  • Now there was a man named Simeon who lived in Jerusalem. He was a righteous man and very devout. He was filled with the Holy Spirit, and he eagerly expected the Messiah to come and rescue Israel. - Luke 2:25

  • The Holy Spirit had revealed to him that he would not die until he had seen the Lord's Messiah. - Luke 2:26
