(Read Sorrow Part 1 First)

  • The prophet Jeremiah composed funeral songs for Josiah, and to this day choirs still sing these sad songs about his death. These songs of sorrow have become a tradition and are recorded in [The Book of Laments.] - 2 Chronicles 35:25

  • "You saw the sufferings and sorrows of our ancestors in Egypt, and you heard their cries from beside the Red Sea.*3 - Nehemiah 9:9

  • He told them to celebrate these days with feasting and gladness and by giving gifts to each other and to the poor. This would commemorate a time when the Jews gained relief from their enemies, when their sorrow was turned into gladness and their mourning into joy. - Esther 9:22
