  • In the eighteenth year of his reign, King Josiah sent Shaphan son of Azaliah and grandson of Meshullam, the court secretary, to the Temple of the LORD. He told him, - 2 Kings 22:3


  • Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the court secretary, "I have found the Book of the Law in the LORD's Temple!" Then Hilkiah gave the scroll to Shaphan, and he read it. - 2 Kings 22:8


  • Shaphan returned to the king and reported, "Your officials have given the money collected at the Temple of the LORD to the workers and supervisors at the Temple." - 2 Kings 22:9


  • Shaphan also said to the king, "Hilkiah the priest has given me a scroll." So Shaphan read it to the king. - 2 Kings 22:10


  • Then he gave these orders to Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam son of Shaphan, Acbor son of Micaiah, Shaphan the court secretary, and Asaiah the king's personal adviser: - 2 Kings 22:12


  • So Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam, Acbor, Shaphan, and Asaiah went to the newer Mishneh section* of Jerusalem to consult with the prophet Huldah. She was the wife of Shallum son of Tikvah and grandson of Harhas, the keeper of the Temple wardrobe.1 - 2 Kings 22:14


  • Then King Nebuchadnezzar appointed Gedaliah son of Ahikam and grandson of Shaphan as governor over the people left in Judah. - 2 Kings 25:22


  • In the eighteenth year of his reign, after he had purified the land and the Temple, Josiah appointed Shaphan son of Azaliah, Maaseiah the governor of Jerusalem, and Joah son of Joahaz, the royal historian, to repair the Temple of the LORD his God. - 2 Chronicles 34:8


  • Hilkiah said to Shaphan the court secretary, "I have found the Book of the Law in the LORD's Temple!" Then Hilkiah gave the scroll to Shaphan. - 2 Chronicles 34:15


  • Shaphan took the scroll to the king and reported, "Your officials are doing everything they were assigned to do. - 2 Chronicles 34:16


  • Shaphan also said to the king, "Hilkiah the priest has given me a scroll." So Shaphan read it to the king. - 2 Chronicles 34:18


  • Then he gave these orders to Hilkiah, Ahikam son of Shaphan, Acbor son of Micaiah,* Shaphan the court secretary, and Asaiah the king's personal adviser:1 - 2 Chronicles 34:20


  • Ahikam son of Shaphan also stood with Jeremiah and persuaded the court not to turn him over to the mob to be killed. - Jeremiah 26:24


  • He sent the letter with Elasah son of Shaphan and Gemariah son of Hilkiah, when they went to Babylon as King Zedekiah's ambassadors to Nebuchadnezzar. This is what Jeremiah's letter said: - Jeremiah 29:3


  • Baruch read Jeremiah's words to all the people from the Temple room of Gemariah son of Shaphan. This room was just off the upper courtyard of the Temple, near the New Gate entrance. - Jeremiah 36:10
