(Read Sanctuary Part 1 First)

  • He partitioned off an inner sanctuary--the Most Holy Place--at the far end of the Temple. It was 30 feet deep and was paneled with cedar from floor to ceiling. - 1 Kings 6:16


  • Solomon prepared the inner sanctuary in the rear of the Temple, where the Ark of the LORD's covenant would be placed. - 1 Kings 6:19


  • This inner sanctuary was 30 feet long, 30 feet wide, and 30 feet high. Solomon overlaid its walls and ceiling with pure gold. He also overlaid the altar made of cedar.*4 - 1 Kings 6:20


  • Within the inner sanctuary Solomon placed two cherubim made of olive wood, each 15 feet tall. - 1 Kings 6:23


  • Solomon placed them side by side in the inner sanctuary of the Temple. Their outspread wings reached from wall to wall, while their inner wings touched at the center of the room. - 1 Kings 6:27


  • All the walls of the inner sanctuary and the main room were decorated with carvings of cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers. - 1 Kings 6:29


  • For the entrance to the inner sanctuary, Solomon made double doors of olive wood with five-sided doorposts. - 1 Kings 6:31


  • Then the priests carried the Ark of the LORD's covenant into the inner sanctuary of the Temple--the Most Holy Place--and placed it beneath the wings of the cherubim. - 1 Kings 8:6


  • As the priests came out of the inner sanctuary, a cloud filled the Temple of the LORD. - 1 Kings 8:10


  • Shallum was the son of Kore, a descendant of Abiasaph,* from the clan of Korah. He and his relatives, the Korahites, were responsible for guarding the entrance to the sanctuary, just as their ancestors had guarded the Tabernacle in the camp of the LORD.1 - 1 Chronicles 9:19


  • Others were responsible for the furnishings, the items in the sanctuary, and the supplies such as choice flour, wine, olive oil, incense, and spices. - 1 Chronicles 9:29


  • Now seek the LORD your God with all your heart. Build the sanctuary of the LORD God so that you can bring the Ark of the LORD's covenant and the holy vessels of God into the Temple built to honor the LORD's name." - 1 Chronicles 22:19


  • All tasks were assigned to the various groups by means of sacred lots so that no preference would be shown, for there were many qualified officials serving God in the sanctuary from among the descendants of both Eleazar and Ithamar. - 1 Chronicles 24:5


  • So take this seriously. The LORD has chosen you to build a Temple as his sanctuary. Be strong, and do the work." - 1 Chronicles 28:10


  • Then David gave Solomon the plans for the Temple and its surroundings, including the treasuries, the upstairs rooms, the inner rooms, and the inner sanctuary where the Ark's cover--the place of atonement--would be kept. - 1 Chronicles 28:11


  • Then the priests carried the Ark of the LORD's covenant into the inner sanctuary of the Temple--the Most Holy Place--and placed it beneath the wings of the cherubim. - 2 Chronicles 5:7


  • But when he had become powerful, he also became proud, which led to his downfall. He sinned against the LORD his God by entering the sanctuary of the LORD's Temple and personally burning incense on the altar. - 2 Chronicles 26:16
