(Read Priest Part 1 First)

  • So the LORD sparked the enthusiasm of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, Jeshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the whole remnant of God's people. They came and began their work on the house of the LORD Almighty, their God. - Haggai 1:14

  • "Say this to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Jeshua* son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to the remnant of God's people there in the land:2 - Haggai 2:2

  • But now take courage, Zerubbabel, says the LORD. Take courage, Jeshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest. Take courage, all you people still left in the land, says the LORD. Take courage and work, for I am with you, says the LORD Almighty. - Haggai 2:4

  • "This is what the LORD Almighty says! Ask the priests this question about the law: - Haggai 2:11

  • If one of you is carrying a holy sacrifice in his robes and happens to brush against some bread or stew, wine or oil, or any other kind of food, will it also become holy?" The priests replied, "No." - Haggai 2:12

  • Then Haggai asked, "But if someone becomes ceremonially unclean by touching a dead person and then brushes against any of the things mentioned, will it be defiled?" And the priests answered, "Yes." - Haggai 2:13

  • And one of them slashed at the high priest's servant and cut off his right ear. - Luke 22:50

  • Then Jesus spoke to the leading priests and captains of the Temple guard and the other leaders who headed the mob. "Am I some dangerous criminal," he asked, "that you have come armed with swords and clubs to arrest me? - Luke 22:52

  • So they arrested him and led him to the high priest's residence, and Peter was following far behind. - Luke 22:54

  • At daybreak all the leaders of the people assembled, including the leading priests and the teachers of religious law. Jesus was led before this high council,*1 - Luke 22:66

  • Pilate turned to the leading priests and to the crowd and said, "I find nothing wrong with this man!" - Luke 23:4

  • Meanwhile, the leading priests and the teachers of religious law stood there shouting their accusations. - Luke 23:10

  • Then Pilate called together the leading priests and other religious leaders, along with the people, - Luke 23:13

  • The next day the commander freed Paul from his chains and ordered the leading priests into session with the Jewish high council.* He had Paul brought in before them to try to find out what the trouble was all about.1 - Acts 22:30

  • Instantly Ananias the high priest commanded those close to Paul to slap him on the mouth. - Acts 23:2

  • Those standing near Paul said to him, "Is that the way to talk to God's high priest?" - Acts 23:4

  • "I'm sorry, brothers. I didn't realize he was the high priest," Paul replied, "for the Scriptures say, `Do not speak evil of anyone who rules over you.'* "2 - Acts 23:5
