(Read Prayer Part 1 First)

  • "O our God, hear your servant's prayer! Listen as I plead. For your own sake, Lord, smile again on your desolate sanctuary. - Daniel 9:17

  • Then he said, "Don't be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day you began to pray for understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your request has been heard in heaven. I have come in answer to your prayer. - Daniel 10:12

  • "When I had lost all hope, I turned my thoughts once more to the LORD. And my earnest prayer went out to you in your holy Temple. - Jonah 2:7

  • This prayer was sung by the prophet Habakkuk:*1 - Habakkuk 3:1

  • The Sovereign LORD is my strength! He will make me as surefooted as a deer* and bring me safely over the mountains. (For the choir director: This prayer is to be accompanied by stringed instruments.)5 - Habakkuk 3:19

  • Upon hearing this, the angel of the LORD prayed this prayer: "O LORD Almighty, for seventy years now you have been angry with Jerusalem and the towns of Judah. How long will it be until you again show mercy to them?" - Zephaniah 1:12

  • "Then I will pour out a spirit of grace and prayer on the family of David and on all the people of Jerusalem. They will look on me whom they have pierced and mourn for him as for an only son. They will grieve bitterly for him as for a firstborn son who has died. - Zechariah 12:10

  • "And now about prayer. When you pray, don't be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street corners and in the synagogues where everyone can see them. I assure you, that is all the reward they will ever get. - Matthew 6:5

  • "When you pray, don't babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered only by repeating their words again and again. - Matthew 6:7

  • Then Jesus prayed this prayer: "O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding the truth from those who think themselves so wise and clever, and for revealing it to the childlike. - Matthew 11:25

  • He said, "The Scriptures declare, `My Temple will be called a place of prayer,' but you have turned it into a den of thieves!"*4 - Matthew 21:13

  • If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer." - Matthew 21:22

  • "Everything they do is for show. On their arms they wear extra wide prayer boxes with Scripture verses inside,* and they wear extra long tassels on their robes.1 - Matthew 23:5

  • Jesus replied, "This kind can be cast out only by prayer.*"3 - Mark 9:29

  • He taught them, "The Scriptures declare, `My Temple will be called a place of prayer for all nations,' but you have turned it into a den of thieves."*3 - Mark 11:17

  • But they shamelessly cheat widows out of their property, and then, to cover up the kind of people they really are, they make long prayers in public. Because of this, their punishment will be the greater." - Mark 12:40

  • But the angel said, "Don't be afraid, Zechariah! For God has heard your prayer, and your wife, Elizabeth, will bear you a son! And you are to name him John. - Luke 1:13
