(Read Power Part 1 First)

  • From the time the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky and all that God made. They can clearly see his invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse whatsoever for not knowing God. - Romans 1:20


  • Well then, are we Jews better than others?* No, not at all, for we have already shown that all people, whether Jews or Gentiles, are under the power of sin.3 - Romans 3:9


  • For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives. - Romans 6:4


  • Our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. - Romans 6:6


  • For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. - Romans 6:7


  • We are sure of this because Christ rose from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him. - Romans 6:9


  • But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life. - Romans 6:22


  • So this is the point: The law no longer holds you in its power, because you died to its power when you died with Christ on the cross. And now you are united with the one who was raised from the dead. As a result, you can produce good fruit, that is, good deeds for God. - Romans 7:4


  • But now we have been released from the law, for we died with Christ, and we are no longer captive to its power. Now we can really serve God, not in the old way by obeying the letter of the law, but in the new way, by the Spirit. - Romans 7:6


  • But sin took advantage of this law and aroused all kinds of forbidden desires within me! If there were no law, sin would not have that power. - Romans 7:8


  • For the power* of the life-giving Spirit has freed you* through Christ Jesus from the power of sin that leads to death.1 - Romans 8:2


  • For if you keep on following it, you will perish. But if through the power of the Holy Spirit you turn from it* and its evil deeds, you will live.5 - Romans 8:13


  • And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can't, and life can't. The angels can't, and the demons can't. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can't keep God's love away. - Romans 8:38


  • For the Scriptures say that God told Pharaoh, "I have appointed you for the very purpose of displaying my power in you, and so that my fame might spread throughout the earth."*9 - Romans 9:17


  • God has every right to exercise his judgment and his power, but he also has the right to be very patient with those who are the objects of his judgment and are fit only for destruction. - Romans 9:22


  • And if the Jews turn from their unbelief, God will graft them back into the tree again. He has the power to do it. - Romans 11:23


  • For everything comes from him; everything exists by his power and is intended for his glory. To him be glory evermore. Amen. - Romans 11:36
