  • He smashed the sacred pillars and cut down the Asherah poles. Then he desecrated these places by scattering human bones over them. - 2 Kings 23:14


  • The Babylonians broke up the bronze pillars, the bronze water carts, and the bronze Sea that were at the LORD's Temple, and they carried all the bronze away to Babylon. - 2 Kings 25:13


  • The bronze from the two pillars, the water carts, and the Sea was too great to be weighed. These things had been made for the LORD's Temple in the days of King Solomon. - 2 Kings 25:16


  • Each of the pillars was 27 feet* tall. The bronze capital on top of each pillar was 7 feet* high and was decorated with a network of bronze pomegranates all the way around.6 - 2 Kings 25:17

Singers with musical instruments were leading the people in a great celebration. When Athaliah saw all this, she tore her clothes in despair and shouted, "Treason! Treason!" - 2 Chronicles 23:13


  • Now when the festival ended, the Israelites who attended went to all the towns of Judah, Benjamin, Ephraim, and Manasseh, and they smashed the sacred pillars, cut down the Asherah poles, and removed the pagan shrines and altars. After this, the Israelites returned to their own towns and homes. - 2 Chronicles 31:1

He pledged to obey the LORD by keeping all his commands, regulations, and laws with all his heart and soul. He promised to obey all the terms of the covenant that were written in the scroll. - 2 Chronicles 34:31
