(Read Money Part 1 First)

  • The leading priests picked up the money. "We can't put it in the Temple treasury," they said, "since it's against the law to accept money paid for murder." - Matthew 27:6

  • He told them to take nothing with them except a walking stick--no food, no traveler's bag, no money. - Mark 6:8

  • Jesus felt genuine love for this man as he looked at him. "You lack only one thing," he told him. "Go and sell all you have and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." - Mark 10:21

  • Jesus went over to the collection box in the Temple and sat and watched as the crowds dropped in their money. Many rich people put in large amounts. - Mark 12:41

  • "She could have sold it for a small fortune* and given the money to the poor!" And they scolded her harshly.2 - Mark 14:5

  • "What should we do?" asked some soldiers. John replied, "Don't extort money, and don't accuse people of things you know they didn't do. And be content with your pay." - Luke 3:14

  • And if you lend money only to those who can repay you, what good is that? Even sinners will lend to their own kind for a full return. - Luke 6:34

  • Then Jesus told him this story: "A man loaned money to two people--five hundred pieces of silver* to one and fifty pieces to the other.3 - Luke 7:41

  • "Don't even take along a walking stick," he instructed them, "nor a traveler's bag, nor food, nor money. Not even an extra coat. - Luke 9:3

  • Don't take along any money, or a traveler's bag, or even an extra pair of sandals. And don't stop to greet anyone on the road. - Luke 10:4

  • Jesus replied with an illustration: "A Jewish man was traveling on a trip from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he was attacked by bandits. They stripped him of his clothes and money, beat him up, and left him half dead beside the road. - Luke 10:30

  • "But don't begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first getting estimates and then checking to see if there is enough money to pay the bills? - Luke 14:28

  • They would say, `There's the person who started that building and ran out of money before it was finished!' - Luke 14:30

  • "A few days later this younger son packed all his belongings and took a trip to a distant land, and there he wasted all his money on wild living. - Luke 15:13

  • About the time his money ran out, a great famine swept over the land, and he began to starve. - Luke 15:14

  • Yet when this son of yours comes back after squandering your money on prostitutes, you celebrate by killing the finest calf we have.' - Luke 15:30

  • "So he invited each person who owed money to his employer to come and discuss the situation. He asked the first one, `How much do you owe him?' - Luke 16:5
