(Read Language Part 1 First)

  • There are so many different languages in the world, and all are excellent for those who understand them, - 1 Corinthians 14:10

  • but to me they mean nothing. I will not understand people who speak those languages, and they will not understand me. - 1 Corinthians 14:11

  • But in a church meeting I would much rather speak five understandable words that will help others than ten thousand words in an unknown language. - 1 Corinthians 14:19

  • It is written in the Scriptures,* "I will speak to my own people through unknown languages and through the lips of foreigners. But even then, they will not listen to me,"* says the Lord.4 - 1 Corinthians 14:21

  • Even so, if unbelievers or people who don't understand these things come into your meeting and hear everyone talking in an unknown language, they will think you are crazy. - 1 Corinthians 14:23

  • Well, my brothers and sisters, let's summarize what I am saying. When you meet, one will sing, another will teach, another will tell some special revelation God has given, one will speak in an unknown language, while another will interpret what is said. But everything that is done must be useful to all and build them up in the Lord. - 1 Corinthians 14:26

  • No more than two or three should speak in an unknown language. They must speak one at a time, and someone must be ready to interpret what they are saying. - 1 Corinthians 14:27

  • Don't use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. - Ephesians 4:29

  • But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language. - Colossians 3:8

  • And they sang a new song with these words: "You are worthy to take the scroll and break its seals and open it. For you were killed, and your blood has ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation. - Revelation 5:9

  • After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white and held palm branches in their hands. - Revelation 7:9

  • Then he said to me, "You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, languages, and kings." - Revelation 10:11

  • And for three and a half days, all peoples, tribes, languages, and nations will come to stare at their bodies. No one will be allowed to bury them. - Revelation 11:9
