(Read Language Part 1 First)

  • He was given authority, honor, and royal power over all the nations of the world, so that people of every race and nation and language would obey him. His rule is eternal--it will never end. His kingdom will never be destroyed. - Daniel 7:14

  • "This is what the LORD Almighty says: In those days ten people from nations and languages around the world will clutch at the hem of one Jew's robe. And they will say, `Please let us walk with you, for we have heard that God is with you.' " - Zechariah 8:23

  • These signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak new languages.*3 - Mark 16:17

  • And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages,* as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.2 - Acts 2:4

  • When they heard this sound, they came running to see what it was all about, and they were bewildered to hear their own languages being spoken by the believers. - Acts 2:6

  • and yet we hear them speaking the languages of the lands where we were born! - Acts 2:8

  • Cretans, and Arabians. And we all hear these people speaking in our own languages about the wonderful things God has done!" - Acts 2:11

  • The commander agreed, so Paul stood on the stairs and motioned to the people to be quiet. Soon a deep silence enveloped the crowd, and he addressed them in their own language, Aramaic.*2 - Acts 21:40

  • When they heard him speaking in their own language,* the silence was even greater.1 - Acts 22:2

  • He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and to another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to know whether it is really the Spirit of God or another spirit that is speaking. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages,* and another is given the ability to interpret what is being said.2 - 1 Corinthians 12:10

  • Here is a list of some of the members that God has placed in the body of Christ: first are apostles, second are prophets, third are teachers, then those who do miracles, those who have the gift of healing, those who can help others, those who can get others to work together, those who speak in unknown languages. - 1 Corinthians 12:28

  • Does everyone have the gift of healing? Of course not. Does God give all of us the ability to speak in unknown languages? Can everyone interpret unknown languages? No! - 1 Corinthians 12:30

  • If I could speak in any language in heaven or on earth* but didn't love others, I would only be making meaningless noise like a loud gong or a clanging cymbal.1 - 1 Corinthians 13:1

  • Love will last forever, but prophecy and speaking in unknown languages* and special knowledge will all disappear.3 - 1 Corinthians 13:8

  • Dear brothers and sisters,* if I should come to you talking in an unknown language,* how would that help you? But if I bring you some revelation or some special knowledge or some prophecy or some teaching--that is what will help you.2 - 1 Corinthians 14:6

  • Even musical instruments like the flute or the harp, though they are lifeless, are examples of the need for speaking in plain language. For no one will recognize the melody unless the notes are played clearly. - 1 Corinthians 14:7

  • And it's the same for you. If you talk to people in a language they don't understand, how will they know what you mean? You might as well be talking to an empty room. - 1 Corinthians 14:9
