(Read Judea Part 1 First)

  • It all begins with a Jewish priest, Zechariah, who lived when Herod was king of Judea. Zechariah was a member of the priestly order of Abijah. His wife, Elizabeth, was also from the priestly line of Aaron. - Luke 1:5

  • A few days later Mary hurried to the hill country of Judea, to the town - Luke 1:39

  • Wonder fell upon the whole neighborhood, and the news of what had happened spread throughout the Judean hills. - Luke 1:65

  • And because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to go to Bethlehem in Judea, David's ancient home. He traveled there from the village of Nazareth in Galilee. - Luke 2:4

  • It was now the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius, the Roman emperor. Pilate was governor over Judea; Herod Antipas was ruler* over Galilee; his brother Philip was ruler* over Iturea and Traconitis; Lysanias was ruler over Abilene.1 - Luke 3:1

  • So he continued to travel around, preaching in synagogues throughout Judea.*1 - Luke 4:44

  • One day while Jesus was teaching, some Pharisees and teachers of religious law were sitting nearby. (It seemed that these men showed up from every village in all Galilee and Judea, as well as from Jerusalem.) And the Lord's healing power was strongly with Jesus. - Luke 5:17

  • When they came down the slopes of the mountain, the disciples stood with Jesus on a large, level area, surrounded by many of his followers and by the crowds. There were people from all over Judea and from Jerusalem and from as far north as the seacoasts of Tyre and Sidon. - Luke 6:17

  • The report of what Jesus had done that day spread all over Judea and even out across its borders. - Luke 7:17

  • Then those in Judea must flee to the hills. Let those in Jerusalem escape, and those outside the city should not enter it for shelter. - Luke 21:21

  • but he had not agreed with the decision and actions of the other religious leaders. He was from the town of Arimathea in Judea, and he had been waiting for the Kingdom of God to come. - Luke 23:51

  • Afterward Jesus and his disciples left Jerusalem, but they stayed in Judea for a while and baptized there. - John 3:22

  • So he left Judea to return to Galilee. - John 4:3

  • When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea and was traveling in Galilee, he went over to Cana. He found Jesus and begged him to come to Capernaum with him to heal his son, who was about to die. - John 4:47

  • This was Jesus' second miraculous sign in Galilee after coming from Judea. - John 4:54

  • After this, Jesus stayed in Galilee, going from village to village. He wanted to stay out of Judea where the Jewish leaders were plotting his death. - John 7:1

  • and Jesus' brothers urged him to go to Judea for the celebration. "Go where your followers can see your miracles!" they scoffed. - John 7:3
