(Read Joshua Part 1 First)

  • As the men who were mapping out the land started on their way, Joshua commanded them, "Go and survey the land. Then return to me with your written report, and I will assign the land to the tribes by casting sacred lots in the presence of the LORD here at Shiloh." - Joshua 18:8


  • The men did as they were told and mapped the entire territory into seven sections, listing the towns in each section. Then they returned to Joshua in the camp at Shiloh. - Joshua 18:9


  • There at Shiloh, Joshua cast sacred lots in the presence of the LORD to determine which tribe should have each section. - Joshua 18:10


  • After all the land was divided among the tribes, the Israelites gave a special piece of land to Joshua as his inheritance. - Joshua 19:49


  • These are the territories that Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun, and the tribal leaders gave as an inheritance to the tribes of Israel by casting sacred lots in the presence of the LORD at the entrance of the Tabernacle* at Shiloh. So the division of the land was completed.5 - Joshua 19:51


  • The LORD said to Joshua, - Joshua 20:1


  • Then the leaders of the tribe of Levi came to consult with Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun, and the leaders of the other tribes of Israel. - Joshua 21:1


  • Then Joshua called together the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh. - Joshua 22:1


  • So Joshua blessed them and sent them home. - Joshua 22:6


  • Now Moses had given the land of Bashan to the half-tribe of Manasseh east of the Jordan. The other half of the tribe was given land west of the Jordan. As Joshua sent them away, he blessed them - Joshua 22:7


  • The years passed, and the LORD had given the people of Israel rest from all their enemies. Joshua, who was now very old, - Joshua 23:1


  • Then Joshua summoned all the people of Israel to Shechem, along with their elders, leaders, judges, and officers. So they came and presented themselves to God. - Joshua 24:1


  • Joshua said to the people, "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Your ancestors, including Terah, the father of Abraham and Nahor, lived beyond the Euphrates River,* and they worshiped other gods.1 - Joshua 24:2


  • Then Joshua said to the people, "You are not able to serve the LORD, for he is a holy and jealous God. He will not forgive your rebellion and sins. - Joshua 24:19


  • But the people answered Joshua, saying, "No, we are determined to serve the LORD!" - Joshua 24:21


  • "You are accountable for this decision," Joshua said. "You have chosen to serve the LORD." "Yes," they replied, "we are accountable." - Joshua 24:22


  • "All right then," Joshua said, "destroy the idols among you, and turn your hearts to the LORD, the God of Israel." - Joshua 24:23
