(Read Joseph Part 1 First)

  • The descendants of Joseph came to Joshua and asked, "Why have you given us only one portion of land when the LORD has given us so many people?" - Joshua 17:14

  • Then Joshua said to the tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh, the descendants of Joseph, "Since you are so large and strong, you will be given more than one portion. - Joshua 17:17

  • The oldest son of Israel* was Reuben. But since he dishonored his father by sleeping with one of his father's concubines, his birthright was given to the sons of his brother Joseph. For this reason, Reuben is not listed in the genealogy as the firstborn son.1 - 1 Chronicles 5:1

  • It was the descendants of Judah that became the most powerful tribe and provided a ruler for the nation,* but the birthright belonged to Joseph.2 - 1 Chronicles 5:2

  • Along the border of Manasseh were the towns of Beth-shan,* Taanach, Megiddo, Dor, and their surrounding villages. The descendants of Joseph son of Israel* lived in these towns.3 - 1 Chronicles 7:29

  • From the sons of Asaph, there were Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asarelah. They worked under the direction of their father, Asaph, who proclaimed God's messages by the king's orders. - 1 Chronicles 25:2

  • The first lot fell to Joseph of the Asaph clan and twelve of his sons and relatives.* The second lot fell to Gedaliah and twelve of his sons and relatives.3 - 1 Chronicles 25:9

  • Shallum, Amariah, and Joseph. - Ezra 10:42

  • Jonathan was leader of the family of Malluch.* Joseph was leader of the family of Shecaniah.*5 - Nehemiah 12:14

  • You have redeemed your people by your strength, the descendants of Jacob and of Joseph by your might. Interlude - Psalms 77:15

  • But he rejected Joseph's descendants; he did not choose the tribe of Ephraim. - Psalms 78:67
