(Read Jesus Part 1 First)

  • Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus, sends you his greetings. - Philemon 1:23

  • For God never said to any angel what he said to Jesus: "You are my Son. Today I have become your Father.*" And again God said, "I will be his Father, and he will be my Son."*2 - Philemon 1:5

  • What makes us think that we can escape if we are indifferent to this great salvation that was announced by the Lord Jesus himself? It was passed on* to us by those who heard him speak,1 - Hebrews 2:3

  • What we do see is Jesus, who "for a little while was made lower than the angels" and now is "crowned with glory and honor" because he suffered death for us. Yes, by God's grace, Jesus tasted death for everyone in all the world. - Hebrews 2:9

  • And it was only right that God--who made everything and for whom everything was made--should bring his many children into glory. Through the suffering of Jesus, God made him a perfect leader, one fit to bring them into their salvation. - Hebrews 2:10

  • So now Jesus and the ones he makes holy have the same Father. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call them his brothers and sisters.*5 - Hebrews 2:11

  • We all know that Jesus came to help the descendants of Abraham, not to help the angels. - Hebrews 2:16

  • Therefore, it was necessary for Jesus to be in every respect like us, his brothers and sisters, so that he could be our merciful and faithful High Priest before God. He then could offer a sacrifice that would take away the sins of the people. - Hebrews 2:17

  • And so, dear brothers and sisters who belong to God* and are bound for heaven, think about this Jesus whom we declare to be God's Messenger and High Priest.1 - Hebrews 3:1

  • But Jesus deserves far more glory than Moses, just as a person who builds a fine house deserves more praise than the house itself. - Hebrews 3:3

  • That is why we have a great High Priest who has gone to heaven, Jesus the Son of God. Let us cling to him and never stop trusting him. - Hebrews 4:14

  • While Jesus was here on earth, he offered prayers and pleadings, with a loud cry and tears, to the one who could deliver him out of death. And God heard his prayers because of his reverence for God. - Hebrews 5:7

  • So even though Jesus was God's Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered. - Hebrews 5:8

  • Jesus has already gone in there for us. He has become our eternal High Priest in the line of Melchizedek. - Hebrews 6:20

  • Only to Jesus did he say, "The Lord has taken an oath and will not break his vow: `You are a priest forever.' "*4 - Hebrews 7:21

  • Because of God's oath, it is Jesus who guarantees the effectiveness of this better covenant. - Hebrews 7:22

  • But Jesus remains a priest forever; his priesthood will never end. - Hebrews 7:24
