(Read Jesus Part 1 First)

  • Then John's two disciples turned and followed Jesus. - John 1:37

  • Jesus looked around and saw them following. "What do you want?" he asked them. They replied, "Rabbi" (which means Teacher), "where are you staying?" - John 1:38

  • Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, was one of these men who had heard what John said and then followed Jesus. - John 1:40

  • Then Andrew brought Simon to meet Jesus. Looking intently at Simon, Jesus said, "You are Simon, the son of John--but you will be called Cephas" (which means Peter*).1 - John 1:42

  • The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, "Come, be my disciple." - John 1:43

  • Philip went off to look for Nathanael and told him, "We have found the very person Moses and the prophets wrote about! His name is Jesus, the son of Joseph from Nazareth." - John 1:45

  • As they approached, Jesus said, "Here comes an honest man--a true son of Israel." - John 1:47

  • "How do you know about me?" Nathanael asked. And Jesus replied, "I could see you under the fig tree before Philip found you." - John 1:48

  • Jesus asked him, "Do you believe all this just because I told you I had seen you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than this." - John 1:50

  • The next day* Jesus' mother was a guest at a wedding celebration in the village of Cana in Galilee.1 - John 2:1

  • Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the celebration. - John 2:2

  • The wine supply ran out during the festivities, so Jesus' mother spoke to him about the problem. "They have no more wine," she told him. - John 2:3

  • "How does that concern you and me?" Jesus asked. "My time has not yet come." - John 2:4

  • Jesus told the servants, "Fill the jars with water." When the jars had been filled to the brim, - John 2:7

  • This miraculous sign at Cana in Galilee was Jesus' first display of his glory. And his disciples believed in him. - John 2:11

  • It was time for the annual Passover celebration, and Jesus went to Jerusalem. - John 2:13

  • Jesus made a whip from some ropes and chased them all out of the Temple. He drove out the sheep and oxen, scattered the money changers' coins over the floor, and turned over their tables. - John 2:15
