(Read Jesus Part 1 First)

  • As Jesus was speaking, one of the Pharisees invited him home for a meal. So he went in and took his place at the table. - Luke 11:37


  • "Yes," said Jesus, "how terrible it will be for you experts in religious law! For you crush people beneath impossible religious demands, and you never lift a finger to help ease the burden. - Luke 11:46


  • As Jesus finished speaking, the Pharisees and teachers of religious law were furious. From that time on they grilled him with many hostile questions, - Luke 11:53


  • Meanwhile, the crowds grew until thousands were milling about and crushing each other. Jesus turned first to his disciples and warned them, "Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees--beware of their hypocrisy. - Luke 12:1


  • Jesus replied, "Friend, who made me a judge over you to decide such things as that?" - Luke 12:14


  • Then turning to his disciples, Jesus said, "So I tell you, don't worry about everyday life--whether you have enough food to eat or clothes to wear. - Luke 12:22


  • Then Jesus turned to the crowd and said, "When you see clouds beginning to form in the west, you say, `Here comes a shower.' And you are right. - Luke 12:54


  • About this time Jesus was informed that Pilate had murdered some people from Galilee as they were sacrificing at the Temple in Jerusalem. - Luke 13:1


  • Then Jesus used this illustration: "A man planted a fig tree in his garden and came again and again to see if there was any fruit on it, but he was always disappointed. - Luke 13:6


  • One Sabbath day as Jesus was teaching in a synagogue, - Luke 13:10


  • When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said, "Woman, you are healed of your sickness!" - Luke 13:12


  • But the leader in charge of the synagogue was indignant that Jesus had healed her on the Sabbath day. "There are six days of the week for working," he said to the crowd. "Come on those days to be healed, not on the Sabbath." - Luke 13:14


  • Then Jesus said, "What is the Kingdom of God like? How can I illustrate it? - Luke 13:18


  • Jesus went through the towns and villages, teaching as he went, always pressing on toward Jerusalem. - Luke 13:22


  • Jesus replied, "Go tell that fox that I will keep on casting out demons and doing miracles of healing today and tomorrow; and the third day I will accomplish my purpose. - Luke 13:32


  • One Sabbath day Jesus was in the home of a leader of the Pharisees. The people were watching him closely, - Luke 14:1


  • Jesus asked the Pharisees and experts in religious law, "Well, is it permitted in the law to heal people on the Sabbath day, or not?" - Luke 14:3
