  • Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came over and spoke to him. "Teacher," they said, "we want you to do us a favor." - Mark 10:35


  • When the ten other disciples discovered what James and John had asked, they were indignant. - Mark 10:41


  • Later, Jesus sat on the slopes of the Mount of Olives across the valley from the Temple. Peter, James, John, and Andrew came to him privately and asked him, - Mark 13:3


  • He took Peter, James, and John with him, and he began to be filled with horror and deep distress. - Mark 14:33


  • Some women were there, watching from a distance, including Mary Magdalene, Mary (the mother of James the younger and of Joseph*), and Salome.1 - Mark 15:40


  • The next evening, when the Sabbath ended, Mary Magdalene and Salome and Mary the mother of James went out and purchased burial spices to put on Jesus' body. - Mark 16:1


  • His partners, James and John, the sons of Zebedee, were also amazed. Jesus replied to Simon, "Don't be afraid! From now on you'll be fishing for people!" - Luke 5:10


  • Simon (he also called him Peter), Andrew (Peter's brother), James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, - Luke 6:14


  • Matthew, Thomas, James (son of Alphaeus), Simon (the Zealot), - Luke 6:15


  • Judas (son of James), Judas Iscariot (who later betrayed him). - Luke 6:16


  • When they arrived at the house, Jesus wouldn't let anyone go in with him except Peter, James, John, and the little girl's father and mother. - Luke 8:51


  • About eight days later Jesus took Peter, James, and John to a mountain to pray. - Luke 9:28


  • When James and John heard about it, they said to Jesus, "Lord, should we order down fire from heaven to burn them up*?"3 - Luke 9:54


  • The women who went to the tomb were Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and several others. They told the apostles what had happened, - Luke 24:10


  • Then they went to the upstairs room of the house where they were staying. Here is the list of those who were present: Peter, John, James, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James (son of Alphaeus), Simon (the Zealot), and Judas (son of James). - Acts 1:13


  • He had the apostle James (John's brother) killed with a sword. - Acts 12:2


  • He motioned for them to quiet down and told them what had happened and how the Lord had led him out of jail. "Tell James and the other brothers what happened," he said. And then he went to another place. - Acts 12:17
