  • "If any of your Israelite relatives fall into poverty and cannot support themselves, support them as you would a resident foreigner and allow them to live with you. - Leviticus 25:35


  • "If any of your Israelite relatives go bankrupt and sell themselves to you, do not treat them as slaves. - Leviticus 25:39


  • The people of Israel are my servants, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt, so they must never be sold as slaves. - Leviticus 25:42


  • passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way. - Leviticus 25:46


  • "If a resident foreigner becomes rich, and if some of your Israelite relatives go bankrupt and sell themselves to such a foreigner, - Leviticus 25:47


  • The foreigner must treat them as servants hired on a yearly basis. You must not allow a resident foreigner to treat any of your Israelite relatives ruthlessly. - Leviticus 25:53


  • For the people of Israel are my servants, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt. I, the LORD, am your God. - Leviticus 25:55


  • One day in midspring,* during the second year after Israel's departure from Egypt, the LORD spoke to Moses in the Tabernacle* in the wilderness of Sinai. He said,1 - Numbers 1:1


  • "Take a census of the whole community of Israel by their clans and families. List the names of all the men - Numbers 1:2


  • called together the whole community of Israel on that very day.* All the people were registered according to their ancestry by their clans and families. The men of Israel twenty years old or older were registered, one by one,2 - Numbers 1:18


  • These were the men counted by Moses and Aaron and the twelve leaders of Israel, all listed according to their ancestral descent. - Numbers 1:44


  • They were counted by families--all the men of Israel who were twenty years old or older and able to go to war. - Numbers 1:45


  • Each tribe of Israel will have a designated camping area with its own family banner. - Numbers 1:52


  • But the Levites will camp around the Tabernacle of the Covenant to offer the people of Israel protection from the LORD's fierce anger. The Levites are responsible to stand guard around the Tabernacle." - Numbers 1:53


  • In summary, the troops of Israel listed by their families totaled 603,550. - Numbers 2:32


  • So the people of Israel did everything just as the LORD had commanded Moses. Each clan and family set up camp and marched under their banners exactly as the LORD had instructed them. - Numbers 2:34


  • "I have chosen the Levites from among the Israelites as substitutes for all the firstborn sons of the people of Israel. The Levites are mine - Numbers 3:12
