(Read House Part 1 First)

  • If they go out into the street, they will be killed, and we cannot be held to our oath. But we swear that no one inside this house will be killed--not a hand will be laid on any of them. - Joshua 2:19


  • The city and everything in it must be completely destroyed* as an offering to the LORD. Only Rahab the prostitute and the others in her house will be spared, for she protected our spies.1 - Joshua 6:17


  • Then Joshua said to the two spies, "Keep your promise. Go to the prostitute's house and bring her out, along with all her family." - Joshua 6:22


  • Then the Israelites burned the city and everything in it. Only the things made from silver, gold, bronze, or iron were kept for the treasury of the LORD's house. - Joshua 6:24


  • So Joshua spared Rahab the prostitute and her relatives who were with her in the house, because she had hidden the spies Joshua sent to Jericho. And she lives among the Israelites to this day. - Joshua 6:25


  • May you be cursed! From now on you will chop wood and carry water for the house of my God." - Joshua 9:23


  • But Jephthah said to them, "Aren't you the ones who hated me and drove me from my father's house? Why do you come to me now when you're in trouble?" - Judges 11:7

  • Then the tribe of Ephraim mobilized its army and crossed over to Zaphon. They sent this message to Jephthah: "Why didn't you call for us to help you fight against Ammon? We are going to burn down your house with you in it!" - Judges 12:1


  • On the fourth* day they said to Samson's wife, "Get the answer to the riddle from your husband, or we will burn down your father's house with you in it. Did you invite us to this party just to make us poor?"1 - Judges 14:15


  • She had hidden some men in one of the rooms of her house, and she cried out, "Samson! The Philistines have come to capture you!" But Samson snapped the bowstrings as if they were string that had been burned in a fire. So the secret of his strength was not discovered. - Judges 16:9


  • So his mother took two hundred of the silver coins to a silversmith, who made them into an image and an idol. And these were placed in Micah's house. - Judges 17:4


  • Micah set up a shrine, and he made a sacred ephod and some household idols. Then he installed one of his sons as the priest. - Judges 17:5


  • arrived in that area of Ephraim, looking for a good place to live. He happened to stop at Micah's house as he was traveling through. - Judges 17:8


  • So Micah ordained the Levite as his personal priest, and he lived in Micah's house. - Judges 17:12


  • Then they went up into the hill country of Ephraim and came to the house of Micah. - Judges 18:13


  • The five men who had scouted out the land around Laish said to the others, "There is a shrine here with a sacred ephod, some household idols, a carved image, and a cast idol. It's obvious what we ought to do." - Judges 18:14
