(Read House Part 1 First)

  • The few survivors of the tribe of Judah will pasture there. They will lie down to rest in the abandoned houses in Ashkelon. For the LORD their God will visit his people in kindness and restore their prosperity again. - Zephaniah 2:7

  • "This is what the LORD Almighty says: The people are saying, `The time has not yet come to rebuild the LORD's house--the Temple.' " - Haggai 1:2

  • "Why are you living in luxurious houses while my house lies in ruins? - Haggai 1:4

  • Now go up into the hills, bring down timber, and rebuild my house. Then I will take pleasure in it and be honored, says the LORD. - Haggai 1:8

  • You hoped for rich harvests, but they were poor. And when you brought your harvest home, I blew it away. Why? Because my house lies in ruins, says the LORD Almighty, while you are all busy building your own fine houses. - Haggai 1:9

  • So the LORD sparked the enthusiasm of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, Jeshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the whole remnant of God's people. They came and began their work on the house of the LORD Almighty, their God. - Haggai 1:14

  • Is there anyone who can remember this house--the Temple--as it was before? In comparison, how does it look to you now? It must seem like nothing at all! - Haggai 2:3

  • "When you arrive in Canaan, the land I am giving you as an inheritance, I may contaminate some of your houses with an infectious mildew.*1 - Leviticus 14:34

  • The owner of such a house must then go to the priest and say, `It looks like my house has some kind of disease.' - Leviticus 14:35

  • Before the priest examines the house, he must have the house emptied so everything inside will not be pronounced unclean. Then the priest will go in and inspect the house. - Leviticus 14:36

  • If he finds bright green or reddish streaks on the walls of the house and the contamination appears to go deeper than the wall's surface, - Leviticus 14:37

  • he will leave the house and lock it up for seven days. - Leviticus 14:38

  • On the seventh day the priest must return for another inspection. If the mildew on the walls of the house has spread, - Leviticus 14:39

  • Next the inside walls of the entire house must be scraped thoroughly and the scrapings dumped in the unclean place outside the town. - Leviticus 14:41

  • the priest must return and inspect the house again. If he sees that the affected areas have spread, the walls are clearly contaminated with an infectious mildew, and the house is defiled. - Leviticus 14:44

  • Anyone who enters the house while it is closed will be considered ceremonially unclean until evening. - Leviticus 14:46

  • All who sleep or eat in the house must wash their clothing. - Leviticus 14:47
