(Read Family Part 1 First)

  • The young men went in and brought out Rahab, her father, mother, brothers, and all the other relatives who were with her. They moved her whole family to a safe place near the camp of Israel. - Joshua 6:23


  • But Israel was unfaithful concerning the things set apart for the LORD.* A man named Achan had stolen some of these things, so the LORD was very angry with the Israelites. Achan was the son of Carmi, of the family of Zimri,* of the clan of Zerah, and of the tribe of Judah.1 - Joshua 7:1


  • In the morning you must present yourselves by tribes, and the LORD will point out the tribe to which the guilty man belongs. That tribe must come forward with its clans, and the LORD will point out the guilty clan. That clan will then come forward, and the LORD will point out the guilty family. Finally, each member of the guilty family must come one by one. - Joshua 7:14


  • Then the clans of Judah came forward, and the clan of Zerah was singled out. Then the families of Zerah came before the LORD, and the family of Zimri was singled out. - Joshua 7:17


  • Every member of Zimri's family was brought forward person by person, and Achan was singled out. - Joshua 7:18


  • Then Joshua said to Achan, "Why have you brought trouble on us? The LORD will now bring trouble on you." And all the Israelites stoned Achan and his family and burned their bodies. - Joshua 7:25


  • The next allotment of land was given to the half-tribe of Manasseh, the descendants of Joseph's older son. Gilead and Bashan on the east side of the Jordan had already been given to the family of Makir because he was a great warrior. (Makir was Manasseh's oldest son and was the father of Gilead.) - Joshua 17:1


  • In this delegation were ten high officials of Israel, one from each of the ten tribes, and each a leader within the family divisions of Israel. - Joshua 22:14


  • But if you are unwilling to serve the LORD, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the LORD." - Joshua 24:15


  • So he showed them a way in, and they killed everyone in the city except for this man and his family. - Judges 1:25

  • Gideon made a sacred ephod from the gold and put it in Ophrah, his hometown. But soon all the Israelites prostituted themselves by worshiping it, and it became a trap for Gideon and his family. - Judges 8:27


  • Nor did they show any loyalty to the family of Jerubbaal (that is, Gideon), despite all the good he had done for Israel. - Judges 8:35


  • One day Gideon's* son Abimelech went to Shechem to visit his mother's brothers. He said to them and to the rest of his mother's family,1 - Judges 9:1


  • The men of Dan said, "Watch what you say! Some of us are short-tempered, and they might get angry and kill you and your family." - Judges 18:25


  • Then they set up the carved image, and they appointed Jonathan son of Gershom, a descendant of Moses,* as their priest. This family continued as priests for the tribe of Dan until the Exile.1 - Judges 18:30


  • "May the LORD bless him!" Naomi told her daughter-in-law. "He is showing his kindness to us as well as to your dead husband.* That man is one of our closest relatives, one of our family redeemers."2 - Ruth 2:20
