(Read Family Part 1 First)

  • When his family heard what was happening, they tried to take him home with them. "He's out of his mind," they said. - Mark 3:21

  • Then Jesus told them, "A prophet is honored everywhere except in his own hometown and among his relatives and his own family." - Mark 6:4

  • Jesus told her, "First I should help my own family, the Jews.* It isn't right to take food from the children and throw it to the dogs."8 - Mark 7:27

  • "What?" they exclaimed. "There is no one in all your family by that name." - Luke 1:61

  • As the sun went down that evening, people throughout the village brought sick family members to Jesus. No matter what their diseases were, the touch of his hand healed every one. - Luke 4:40

  • Another said, "Yes, Lord, I will follow you, but first let me say good-bye to my family." - Luke 9:61

  • And the Lord replied, "I'm talking to any faithful, sensible servant to whom the master gives the responsibility of managing his household and feeding his family. - Luke 12:42

  • A slave is not a permanent member of the family, but a son is part of the family forever. - John 8:35

  • It is the Good News about his Son, Jesus, who came as a man, born into King David's royal family line. - Romans 1:3

  • So you should not be like cowering, fearful slaves. You should behave instead like God's very own children, adopted into his family*--calling him "Father, dear Father."*7 - Romans 8:15

  • Well then, has God failed to fulfill his promise to the Jews? No, for not everyone born into a Jewish family is truly a Jew! - Romans 9:6

  • But what do the Scriptures say about that? "Get rid of the slave and her son, for the son of the slave woman will not share the family inheritance with the free woman's son."*1 - Galatians 4:30

  • His unchanging plan has always been to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. And this gave him great pleasure. - Ephesians 1:5

  • So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God's holy people. You are members of God's family. - Ephesians 2:19

  • For I was circumcised when I was eight days old, having been born into a pure-blooded Jewish family that is a branch of the tribe of Benjamin. So I am a real Jew if there ever was one! What's more, I was a member of the Pharisees, who demand the strictest obedience to the Jewish law. - Philippians 3:5

  • He must manage his own family well, with children who respect and obey him. - 1 Timothy 3:4
