  • Since we respect our earthly fathers who disciplined us, should we not all the more cheerfully submit to the discipline of our heavenly Father and live forever*?4 - Hebrews 12:9


  • For our earthly fathers disciplined us for a few years, doing the best they knew how. But God's discipline is always right and good for us because it means we will share in his holiness. - Hebrews 12:10


  • See to it that you obey God, the one who is speaking to you. For if the people of Israel did not escape when they refused to listen to Moses, the earthly messenger, how terrible our danger if we reject the One who speaks to us from heaven! - Hebrews 12:25


  • When God spoke from Mount Sinai his voice shook the earth, but now he makes another promise: "Once again I will shake not only the earth but the heavens also."*1 - Hebrews 12:26


  • This means that the things on earth will be shaken, so that only eternal things will be left. - Hebrews 12:27


  • We have an altar from which the priests in the Temple on earth have no right to eat. - Hebrews 13:10


  • For jealousy and selfishness are not God's kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and motivated by the Devil. - James 3:15


  • You have spent your years on earth in luxury, satisfying your every whim. Now your hearts are nice and fat, ready for the slaughter. - James 5:5


  • But most of all, my brothers and sisters, never take an oath, by heaven or earth or anything else. Just say a simple yes or no, so that you will not sin and be condemned for it. - James 5:12


  • And remember that the heavenly Father to whom you pray has no favorites when he judges. He will judge or reward you according to what you do. So you must live in reverent fear of him during your time as foreigners here on earth. - 1 Peter 1:17


  • God chose him for this purpose long before the world began, but now in these final days, he was sent to the earth for all to see. And he did this for you. - 1 Peter 1:20


  • For you have been born again. Your new life did not come from your earthly parents because the life they gave you will end in death. But this new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God. - 1 Peter 1:23


  • But the Lord Jesus Christ has shown me that my days here on earth are numbered and I am soon to die.*5 - 2 Peter 1:14


  • Later, he turned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into heaps of ashes and swept them off the face of the earth. He made them an example of what will happen to ungodly people. - 2 Peter 2:6


  • They deliberately forget that God made the heavens by the word of his command, and he brought the earth up from the water and surrounded it with water. - 2 Peter 3:5


  • And God has also commanded that the heavens and the earth will be consumed by fire on the day of judgment, when ungodly people will perish. - 2 Peter 3:7


  • But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and everything in them will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be exposed to judgment.*1 - 2 Peter 3:10
