(Read Drink Part 1 First)

  • But Jesus said to Peter, "Put your sword back into its sheath. Shall I not drink from the cup the Father has given me?" - John 18:11

  • Instead, do what the Scriptures say: "If your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink, and they will be ashamed of what they have done to you."*4 - Romans 12:20

  • For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. - Romans 14:17

  • Don't eat meat or drink wine or do anything else if it might cause another Christian to stumble. - Romans 14:21

  • What soldier has to pay his own expenses? And have you ever heard of a farmer who harvests his crop and doesn't have the right to eat some of it? What shepherd takes care of a flock of sheep and isn't allowed to drink some of the milk? - 1 Corinthians 9:7

  • or worship idols as some of them did. For the Scriptures say, "The people celebrated with feasting and drinking, and they indulged themselves in pagan revelry."*3 - 1 Corinthians 10:7

  • You cannot drink from the cup of the Lord and from the cup of demons, too. You cannot eat at the Lord's Table and at the table of demons, too. - 1 Corinthians 10:21

  • Whatever you eat or drink or whatever you do, you must do all for the glory of God. - 1 Corinthians 10:31

  • What? Is this really true? Don't you have your own homes for eating and drinking? Or do you really want to disgrace the church of God and shame the poor? What am I supposed to say about these things? Do you want me to praise you? Well, I certainly do not! - 1 Corinthians 11:22

  • In the same way, he took the cup of wine after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant between God and you, sealed by the shedding of my blood. Do this in remembrance of me as often as you drink it." - 1 Corinthians 11:25

  • For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are announcing the Lord's death until he comes again. - 1 Corinthians 11:26

  • So if anyone eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord unworthily, that person is guilty of sinning against the body and the blood of the Lord. - 1 Corinthians 11:27

  • That is why you should examine yourself before eating the bread and drinking from the cup. - 1 Corinthians 11:28

  • For if you eat the bread or drink the cup unworthily, not honoring the body of Christ,* you are eating and drinking God's judgment upon yourself.5 - 1 Corinthians 11:29

  • So don't let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new-moon ceremonies or Sabbaths. - Colossians 2:16

  • He must not be a heavy drinker or be violent. He must be gentle, peace loving, and not one who loves money. - 1 Timothy 3:3

  • In the same way, deacons must be people who are respected and have integrity. They must not be heavy drinkers and must not be greedy for money. - 1 Timothy 3:8
