(Read Discipline Part 1 First)

  • LORD, in distress we searched for you. We were bowed beneath the burden of your discipline. - Isaiah 26:16

  • Lord, your discipline is good, for it leads to life and health. You have restored my health and have allowed me to live! - Isaiah 38:16

  • but they did not listen or obey. They stubbornly refused to pay attention and would not respond to discipline. - Jeremiah 17:23

  • For I am with you and will save you, says the LORD. I will completely destroy the nations where I have scattered you, but I will not destroy you. But I must discipline you; I cannot let you go unpunished. - Jeremiah 30:11

  • I have heard Israel* saying, `You disciplined me severely, but I deserved it. I was like a calf that needed to be trained for the yoke and plow. Turn me again to you and restore me, for you alone are the LORD my God.3 - Jeremiah 31:18

  • Fear not, Jacob, my servant," says the LORD, "for I am with you. I will destroy the nations to which I have exiled you, but I will not destroy you. But I must discipline you; I cannot let you go unpunished." - Jeremiah 46:28

  • And it is good for the young to submit to the yoke of his discipline. - Lamentations 3:27

  • He must enjoy having guests in his home and must love all that is good. He must live wisely and be fair. He must live a devout and disciplined life. - Titus 1:8

  • And have you entirely forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you, his children? He said, "My child, don't ignore it when the Lord disciplines you, and don't be discouraged when he corrects you.2 - Hebrews 12:5

  • For the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes those he accepts as his children."*3 - Hebrews 12:6

  • As you endure this divine discipline, remember that God is treating you as his own children. Who ever heard of a child who was never disciplined? - Hebrews 12:7

  • If God doesn't discipline you as he does all of his children, it means that you are illegitimate and are not really his children after all. - Hebrews 12:8

  • Since we respect our earthly fathers who disciplined us, should we not all the more cheerfully submit to the discipline of our heavenly Father and live forever*?4 - Hebrews 12:9
