  • About this time another great crowd had gathered, and the people ran out of food again. Jesus called his disciples and told them, - Mark 8:1


  • "How are we supposed to find enough food for them here in the wilderness?" his disciples asked. - Mark 8:4


  • So Jesus told all the people to sit down on the ground. Then he took the seven loaves, thanked God for them, broke them into pieces, and gave them to his disciples, who distributed the bread to the crowd. - Mark 8:6


  • A few small fish were found, too, so Jesus also blessed these and told the disciples to pass them out. - Mark 8:7


  • Immediately after this, he got into a boat with his disciples and crossed over to the region of Dalmanutha. - Mark 8:10


  • But the disciples discovered they had forgotten to bring any food, so there was only one loaf of bread with them in the boat. - Mark 8:14


  • Jesus and his disciples left Galilee and went up to the villages of Caesarea Philippi. As they were walking along, he asked them, "Who do people say I am?" - Mark 8:27


  • As he talked about this openly with his disciples, Peter took him aside and told him he shouldn't say things like that.*1 - Mark 8:32


  • Jesus turned and looked at his disciples and then said to Peter very sternly, "Get away from me, Satan! You are seeing things merely from a human point of view, not from God's." - Mark 8:33


  • Then he called his disciples and the crowds to come over and listen. "If any of you wants to be my follower," he told them, "you must put aside your selfish ambition, shoulder your cross, and follow me. - Mark 8:34


  • At the foot of the mountain they found a great crowd surrounding the other disciples, as some teachers of religious law were arguing with them. - Mark 9:14


  • And whenever this evil spirit seizes him, it throws him violently to the ground and makes him foam at the mouth and grind his teeth and become rigid.* So I asked your disciples to cast out the evil spirit, but they couldn't do it."2 - Mark 9:18


  • Afterward, when Jesus was alone in the house with his disciples, they asked him, "Why couldn't we cast out that evil spirit?" - Mark 9:28


  • in order to spend more time with his disciples and teach them. He said to them, "The Son of Man is going to be betrayed. He will be killed, but three days later he will rise from the dead." - Mark 9:31


  • After they arrived at Capernaum, Jesus and his disciples settled in the house where they would be staying. Jesus asked them, "What were you discussing out on the road?" - Mark 9:33


  • He sat down and called the twelve disciples over to him. Then he said, "Anyone who wants to be the first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else." - Mark 9:35


  • Later, when he was alone with his disciples in the house, they brought up the subject again. - Mark 10:10
