(Read Disciple Part 1 First)

  • John's disciples came for his body and buried it. Then they told Jesus what had happened. - Matthew 14:12


  • That evening the disciples came to him and said, "This is a desolate place, and it is getting late. Send the crowds away so they can go to the villages and buy food for themselves." - Matthew 14:15


  • Then he told the people to sit down on the grass. And he took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and asked God's blessing on the food. Breaking the loaves into pieces, he gave some of the bread and fish to each disciple, and the disciples gave them to the people. - Matthew 14:19


  • Immediately after this, Jesus made his disciples get back into the boat and cross to the other side of the lake while he sent the people home. - Matthew 14:22


  • Meanwhile, the disciples were in trouble far away from land, for a strong wind had risen, and they were fighting heavy waves. - Matthew 14:24


  • When the disciples saw him, they screamed in terror, thinking he was a ghost. - Matthew 14:26


  • Then the disciples worshiped him. "You really are the Son of God!" they exclaimed. - Matthew 14:33


  • "Why do your disciples disobey our age-old traditions?" they demanded. "They ignore our tradition of ceremonial hand washing before they eat." - Matthew 15:2


  • Then the disciples came to him and asked, "Do you realize you offended the Pharisees by what you just said?" - Matthew 15:12


  • But Jesus gave her no reply--not even a word. Then his disciples urged him to send her away. "Tell her to leave," they said. "She is bothering us with all her begging." - Matthew 15:23


  • Then Jesus called his disciples to him and said, "I feel sorry for these people. They have been here with me for three days, and they have nothing left to eat. I don't want to send them away hungry, or they will faint along the road." - Matthew 15:32


  • The disciples replied, "And where would we get enough food out here in the wilderness for all of them to eat?" - Matthew 15:33


  • Then he took the seven loaves and the fish, thanked God for them, broke them into pieces, and gave them to the disciples, who distributed the food to the crowd. - Matthew 15:36


  • Later, after they crossed to the other side of the lake, the disciples discovered they had forgotten to bring any food. - Matthew 16:5


  • When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do people say that the Son of Man is?" - Matthew 16:13


  • From then on Jesus began to tell his disciples plainly that he had to go to Jerusalem, and he told them what would happen to him there. He would suffer at the hands of the leaders and the leading priests and the teachers of religious law. He would be killed, and he would be raised on the third day. - Matthew 16:21


  • Then Jesus said to the disciples, "If any of you wants to be my follower, you must put aside your selfish ambition, shoulder your cross, and follow me. - Matthew 16:24
