  • Awe gripped the people as they saw this display of God's power. While everyone was marveling over all the wonderful things he was doing, Jesus said to his disciples, - Luke 9:43


  • He said to another person, "Come, be my disciple." The man agreed, but he said, "Lord, first let me return home and bury my father." - Luke 9:59


  • The Lord now chose seventy-two* other disciples and sent them on ahead in pairs to all the towns and villages he planned to visit.1 - Luke 10:1


  • Then he said to the disciples, "Anyone who accepts your message is also accepting me. And anyone who rejects you is rejecting me. And anyone who rejects me is rejecting God who sent me." - Luke 10:16


  • When the seventy-two disciples returned, they joyfully reported to him, "Lord, even the demons obey us when we use your name!" - Luke 10:17


  • Then when they were alone, he turned to the disciples and said, "How privileged you are to see what you have seen. - Luke 10:23


  • As Jesus and the disciples continued on their way to Jerusalem, they came to a village where a woman named Martha welcomed them into her home. - Luke 10:38


  • Once when Jesus had been out praying, one of his disciples came to him as he finished and said, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples." - Luke 11:1


  • Meanwhile, the crowds grew until thousands were milling about and crushing each other. Jesus turned first to his disciples and warned them, "Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees--beware of their hypocrisy. - Luke 12:1


  • Then turning to his disciples, Jesus said, "So I tell you, don't worry about everyday life--whether you have enough food to eat or clothes to wear. - Luke 12:22


  • "If you want to be my follower you must love me more than* your own father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters--yes, more than your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple.3 - Luke 14:26


  • And you cannot be my disciple if you do not carry your own cross and follow me. - Luke 14:27


  • So no one can become my disciple without giving up everything for me. - Luke 14:33


  • Jesus told this story to his disciples: "A rich man hired a manager to handle his affairs, but soon a rumor went around that the manager was thoroughly dishonest. - Luke 16:1


  • One day Jesus said to his disciples, "There will always be temptations to sin, but how terrible it will be for the person who does the tempting. - Luke 17:1


  • Later he talked again about this with his disciples. "The time is coming when you will long to share in the days of the Son of Man, but you won't be able to," he said. - Luke 17:22


  • "Lord, where will this happen?" the disciples asked. Jesus replied, "Just as the gathering of vultures shows there is a carcass nearby, so these signs indicate that the end is near."*1 - Luke 17:37
