(Read Comfort Part 1 First)

  • Let the ruins of Jerusalem break into joyful song, for the LORD has comforted his people. He has redeemed Jerusalem. - Isaiah 52:9

  • I have seen what they do, but I will heal them anyway! I will lead them and comfort those who mourn. - Isaiah 57:18

  • The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is upon me, because the LORD has appointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to announce that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed.*1 - Isaiah 61:1

  • I will comfort you there as a child is comforted by its mother." - Isaiah 66:13

  • No one will offer a meal to comfort those who mourn for the dead--not even for the death of a mother or a father. No one will send a cup of wine to console them. - Jeremiah 16:7

  • The young women will dance for joy, and the men--old and young--will join in the celebration. I will turn their mourning into joy. I will comfort them and exchange their sorrow for rejoicing. - Jeremiah 31:13

  • "Others heard my groans, but no one turned to comfort me. When my enemies heard of my troubles, they were happy to see what you had done. Oh, bring the day you promised, when you will destroy them as you have destroyed me. - Lamentations 1:21

  • In all the world has there ever been such sorrow? O daughter of Jerusalem, to what can I compare your anguish? O virgin daughter of Zion, how can I comfort you? For your wound is as deep as the sea. Who can heal you? - Lamentations 2:13

  • "I, Nebuchadnezzar, was living in my palace in comfort and prosperity. - Daniel 4:4

  • And the LORD spoke kind and comforting words to the angel who talked with me. - Zephaniah 1:13

  • Say this also: `This is what the LORD Almighty says: The towns of Israel will again overflow with prosperity, and the LORD will again comfort Zion and choose Jerusalem as his own.' " - Zephaniah 1:17

  • Household gods give false advice, fortune-tellers predict only lies, and interpreters of dreams pronounce comfortless falsehoods. So my people are wandering like lost sheep, without a shepherd to protect and guide them. - Zechariah 10:2

  • God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted. - Matthew 5:4
