(Read Church Part 1 First)

  • Gaius says hello to you. I am his guest, and the church meets here in his home. Erastus, the city treasurer, sends you his greetings, and so does Quartus, a Christian brother.*5 - Romans 16:23

  • We are writing to the church of God in Corinth, you who have been called by God to be his own holy people. He made you holy by means of Christ Jesus, just as he did all Christians everywhere--whoever calls upon the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and theirs. - 1 Corinthians 1:2

  • He has enriched your church with the gifts of eloquence and every kind of knowledge. - 1 Corinthians 1:5

  • Now, dear brothers and sisters,* I appeal to you by the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ to stop arguing among yourselves. Let there be real harmony so there won't be divisions in the church. I plead with you to be of one mind, united in thought and purpose.1 - 1 Corinthians 1:10

  • That is the very reason I am sending Timothy--to help you do this. For he is my beloved and trustworthy child in the Lord. He will remind you of what I teach about Christ Jesus in all the churches wherever I go. - 1 Corinthians 4:17

  • I can hardly believe the report about the sexual immorality going on among you, something so evil that even the pagans don't do it. I am told that you have a man in your church who is living in sin with his father's wife. - 1 Corinthians 5:1

  • in the name of the Lord Jesus. You are to call a meeting of the church,* and I will be there in spirit, and the power of the Lord Jesus will be with you as you meet.2 - 1 Corinthians 5:4

  • Then you must cast this man out of the church and into Satan's hands, so that his sinful nature will be destroyed* and he himself* will be saved when the Lord returns.3 - 1 Corinthians 5:5

  • It isn't my responsibility to judge outsiders, but it certainly is your job to judge those inside the church who are sinning in these ways. - 1 Corinthians 5:12

  • If you have legal disputes about such matters, why do you go to outside judges who are not respected by the church? - 1 Corinthians 6:4

  • I am saying this to shame you. Isn't there anyone in all the church who is wise enough to decide these arguments? - 1 Corinthians 6:5

  • You must accept whatever situation the Lord has put you in, and continue on as you were when God first called you. This is my rule for all the churches. - 1 Corinthians 7:17

  • Now let's talk about food that has been sacrificed to idols. You think that everyone should agree with your perfect knowledge. While knowledge may make us feel important, it is love that really builds up the church. - 1 Corinthians 8:1

  • Don't give offense to Jews or Gentiles or the church of God. - 1 Corinthians 10:32

  • But if anyone wants to argue about this, all I can say is that we have no other custom than this, and all the churches of God feel the same way about it. - 1 Corinthians 11:16

  • First of all, I hear that there are divisions among you when you meet as a church, and to some extent I believe it. - 1 Corinthians 11:18

  • What? Is this really true? Don't you have your own homes for eating and drinking? Or do you really want to disgrace the church of God and shame the poor? What am I supposed to say about these things? Do you want me to praise you? Well, I certainly do not! - 1 Corinthians 11:22
