(Read Canaan Part 1 First)

  • "Swear* by the LORD, the God of heaven and earth, that you will not let my son marry one of these local Canaanite women.1 - Genesis 24:3

  • And my master made me swear that I would not let Isaac marry one of the local Canaanite women. - Genesis 24:37

  • So Isaac called for Jacob, blessed him, and said, "Do not marry any of these Canaanite women. - Genesis 28:1

  • Esau heard that his father had blessed Jacob and sent him to Paddan-aram to find a wife, and that he had warned Jacob not to marry a Canaanite woman. - Genesis 28:6

  • It was now very clear to Esau that his father despised the local Canaanite women. - Genesis 28:8

  • He drove the flocks in front of him--all the livestock he had acquired at Paddan-aram--and set out on his journey to the land of Canaan, where his father, Isaac, lived. - Genesis 31:18

  • Then they arrived safely at Shechem, in Canaan, and they set up camp just outside the town. - Genesis 33:18

  • Finally, they arrived at Luz (now called Bethel) in Canaan. - Genesis 35:6

  • Esau married two young women from Canaan: Adah, the daughter of Elon the Hittite; and Oholibamah, the daughter of Anah and granddaughter of Zibeon the Hivite. - Genesis 36:2

  • Esau and Oholibamah had sons named Jeush, Jalam, and Korah. All these sons were born to Esau in the land of Canaan. - Genesis 36:5

  • Then Esau took his wives, children, household servants, cattle, and flocks--all the wealth he had gained in the land of Canaan--and moved away from his brother, Jacob. - Genesis 36:6

  • So Jacob settled again in the land of Canaan, where his father had lived. - Genesis 37:1

  • There he met a Canaanite woman, the daughter of Shua, and he married her. - Genesis 38:2

  • So Jacob's* sons arrived in Egypt along with others to buy food, for the famine had reached Canaan as well.1 - Genesis 42:5

  • Joseph recognized them instantly, but he pretended to be a stranger. "Where are you from?" he demanded roughly. "From the land of Canaan," they replied. "We have come to buy grain." - Genesis 42:7

  • "Sir," they said, "there are twelve of us brothers, and our father is in the land of Canaan. Our youngest brother is there with our father, and one of our brothers is no longer with us." - Genesis 42:13

  • So they came to their father, Jacob, in the land of Canaan and told him all that had happened. - Genesis 42:29
