(Read Bread Part 1 First)

  • On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread (the day the Passover lambs were sacrificed), Jesus' disciples asked him, "Where do you want us to go to prepare the Passover supper?" - Mark 14:12


  • As they were eating, Jesus took a loaf of bread and asked God's blessing on it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, "Take it, for this is my body." - Mark 14:22


  • Then the Devil said to him, "If you are the Son of God, change this stone into a loaf of bread." - Luke 4:3


  • But Jesus told him, "No! The Scriptures say, `People need more than bread for their life.'* "1 - Luke 4:4


  • He went into the house of God, ate the special bread reserved for the priests alone, and then gave some to his friends. That was breaking the law, too." - Luke 6:4


  • But Jesus said, "You feed them." "Impossible!" they protested. "We have only five loaves of bread and two fish. Or are you expecting us to go and buy enough food for this whole crowd?" - Luke 9:13


  • Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and asked God's blessing on the food. Breaking the loaves into pieces, he kept giving the bread and fish to the disciples to give to the people. - Luke 9:16


  • Then, teaching them more about prayer, he used this illustration: "Suppose you went to a friend's house at midnight, wanting to borrow three loaves of bread. You would say to him, - Luke 11:5


  • It is like yeast used by a woman making bread. Even though she used a large amount* of flour, the yeast permeated every part of the dough."2 - Luke 13:21


  • The Festival of Unleavened Bread, which begins with the Passover celebration, was drawing near. - Luke 22:1


  • Now the Festival of Unleavened Bread arrived, when the Passover lambs were sacrificed. - Luke 22:7


  • As they sat down to eat, he took a small loaf of bread, asked God's blessing on it, broke it, then gave it to them. - Luke 24:30


  • Then the two from Emmaus told their story of how Jesus had appeared to them as they were walking along the road and how they had recognized him as he was breaking the bread. - Luke 24:35


  • Jesus soon saw a great crowd of people climbing the hill, looking for him. Turning to Philip, he asked, "Philip, where can we buy bread to feed all these people?" - John 6:5


  • There were only five barley loaves to start with, but twelve baskets were filled with the pieces of bread the people did not eat! - John 6:13


  • Several boats from Tiberias landed near the place where the Lord had blessed the bread and the people had eaten. - John 6:23


  • After all, our ancestors ate manna while they journeyed through the wilderness! As the Scriptures say, `Moses gave them bread from heaven to eat.'* "4 - John 6:31
