  • Benaiah son of Jehoiada was captain of the king's bodyguard.* David's sons served as priestly leaders.*6 - 2 Samuel 8:18


  • Joab once again became the commander of David's army. Benaiah son of Jehoiada was commander of the king's bodyguard. - 2 Samuel 20:23


  • There was also Benaiah son of Jehoiada, a valiant warrior from Kabzeel. He did many heroic deeds, which included killing two of Moab's mightiest warriors. Another time he chased a lion down into a pit. Then, despite the snow and slippery ground, he caught the lion and killed it. - 2 Samuel 23:20


  • Another time, armed only with a club, he killed a great Egyptian warrior who was armed with a spear. Benaiah wrenched the spear from the Egyptian's hand and killed him with it. - 2 Samuel 23:21


  • These are some of the deeds that made Benaiah almost as famous as the Three. - 2 Samuel 23:22


  • Benaiah from Pirathon; Hurai* from Nahale-gaash*;4 - 2 Samuel 23:30


  • But among those who remained loyal to David and refused to support Adonijah were Zadok the priest, Benaiah son of Jehoiada, Nathan the prophet, Shimei, Rei, and David's personal bodyguard. - 1 Kings 1:8

  • The king sent him down to Gihon Spring with Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, protected by the king's bodyguard. They had him ride on the king's own mule, - 1 Kings 1:44


  • So King Solomon ordered Benaiah son of Jehoiada to execute him, and Adonijah was put to death. - 1 Kings 2:25


  • When news of this reached King Solomon, he sent Benaiah son of Jehoiada to execute him. - 1 Kings 2:29
