  • And the LORD sent an angel who destroyed the Assyrian army with all its commanders and officers. So Sennacherib returned home in disgrace to his own land. And when he entered the temple of his god, some of his own sons killed him there with a sword. - 2 Chronicles 32:21


  • That is how the LORD rescued Hezekiah and the people of Jerusalem from King Sennacherib of Assyria and from all the others who threatened them. So there was peace at last throughout the land. - 2 Chronicles 32:22


  • So the LORD sent the Assyrian armies, and they took Manasseh prisoner. They put a ring through his nose, bound him in bronze chains, and led him away to Babylon. - 2 Chronicles 33:11


  • So they approached Zerubbabel and the other leaders and said, "Let us build with you, for we worship your God just as you do. We have sacrificed to him ever since King Esarhaddon of Assyria brought us here." - Ezra 4:2


  • They ate the Passover meal and celebrated the Festival of Unleavened Bread for seven days. There was great joy throughout the land because the LORD had changed the attitude of the king of Assyria* toward them, so that he helped them to rebuild the Temple of God, the God of Israel.5 - Ezra 6:22


  • "And now, our God, the great and mighty and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of unfailing love, do not let all the hardships we have suffered be as nothing to you.   • Assyria has joined them, too, and is allied with the descendants of Lot. Interlude - Psalms 83:8


  • "The LORD will bring a terrible curse on you, your nation, and your family. You will soon experience greater terror than has been known in all the years since Solomon's empire was divided into Israel and Judah. The mighty king of Assyria will come with his great army!" - Isaiah 7:17


  • In that day the LORD will whistle for the army of Upper Egypt and for the army of Assyria. They will swarm around you like flies. Like bees, they will sting and kill. - Isaiah 7:18


  • In that day the Lord will take this "razor"--these Assyrians you have hired to protect you--and use it to shave off everything: your land, your crops, and your people.*4 - Isaiah 7:20


  • This name prophesies that within a couple of years, before this child is old enough to say `Papa' or `Mama,' the king of Assyria will invade both Damascus and Samaria and carry away their riches." - Isaiah 8:4


  • Therefore, the Lord will overwhelm them with a mighty flood from the Euphrates River*--the king of Assyria and all his mighty armies.3 - Isaiah 8:7


  • "The Assyrians will cry, `Do your best to defend yourselves, but you will be shattered! Listen all you nations. Prepare for battle--and die! Yes, die! - Isaiah 8:9


  • The LORD will reply to their bragging by bringing Rezin's enemies, the Assyrians, against them-- - Isaiah 9:11


  • "Destruction is certain for Assyria, the whip of my anger. Its military power is a club in my hand. - Isaiah 10:5


  • Assyria will enslave my people, who are a godless nation. It will plunder them, trampling them like dirt beneath its feet. - Isaiah 10:6


  • But the king of Assyria will not know that it is I who sent him. He will merely think he is attacking my people as part of his plan to conquer the world. - Isaiah 10:7
