(Read Altar Part 1 First)

  • And the Levites who were musicians--Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun, and all their sons and brothers--were dressed in fine linen robes and stood at the east side of the altar playing cymbals, harps, and lyres. They were joined by 120 priests who were playing trumpets. - 2 Chronicles 5:12


  • Then Solomon stood with his hands spread out before the altar of the LORD in front of the entire community of Israel. - 2 Chronicles 6:12


  • "If someone wrongs another person and is required to take an oath of innocence in front of the altar at this Temple, - 2 Chronicles 6:22


  • Solomon then dedicated the central area of the courtyard in front of the LORD's Temple so they could present burnt offerings and the fat from peace offerings there. He did this because the bronze altar he had built could not handle all the burnt offerings, grain offerings, and sacrificial fat. - 2 Chronicles 7:7


  • On the eighth day they had a closing ceremony, for they had celebrated the dedication of the altar for seven days and the Festival of Shelters for seven days. - 2 Chronicles 7:9


  • Then Solomon sacrificed burnt offerings to the LORD on the altar he had built in front of the foyer of the Temple. - 2 Chronicles 8:12


  • He removed the pagan altars and the shrines. He smashed the sacred pillars and cut down the Asherah poles. - 2 Chronicles 14:3


  • Asa also removed the pagan shrines, as well as the incense altars from every one of Judah's towns. So Asa's kingdom enjoyed a period of peace. - 2 Chronicles 14:5


  • When Asa heard this message from Azariah the prophet,* he took courage and removed all the idols in the land of Judah and Benjamin and in the towns he had captured in the hill country of Ephraim. And he repaired the altar of the LORD, which stood in front of the foyer of the LORD's Temple.1 - 2 Chronicles 15:8


  • He stationed the guards around the king, with their weapons ready. They formed a line from the south side of the Temple around to the north side and all around the altar. - 2 Chronicles 23:10


  • And all the people went over to the temple of Baal and tore it down. They demolished the altars and smashed the idols, and they killed Mattan the priest of Baal in front of the altars. - 2 Chronicles 23:17


  • But when he had become powerful, he also became proud, which led to his downfall. He sinned against the LORD his God by entering the sanctuary of the LORD's Temple and personally burning incense on the altar. - 2 Chronicles 26:16


  • Uzziah was furious and refused to set down the incense burner he was holding. But as he was standing there with the priests before the incense altar in the LORD's Temple, leprosy* suddenly broke out on his forehead.6 - 2 Chronicles 26:19


  • The king took the utensils from the Temple of God and broke them into pieces. He shut the doors of the LORD's Temple so that no one could worship there and then set up altars to pagan gods in every corner of Jerusalem. - 2 Chronicles 28:24


  • Then the Levites went to King Hezekiah and gave him this report: "We have purified the Temple of the LORD, the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and the table of the Bread of the Presence with all its utensils. - 2 Chronicles 29:18


  • We have also recovered all the utensils taken by King Ahaz when he was unfaithful and closed the Temple. They are now in front of the altar of the LORD, purified and ready for use." - 2 Chronicles 29:19


  • They brought seven bulls, seven rams, seven lambs, and seven male goats as a sin offering for the kingdom, for the Temple, and for Judah. The king commanded the priests, who were descendants of Aaron, to sacrifice the animals on the altar of the LORD. - 2 Chronicles 29:21
