  • The king also tore down the altar at Bethel, the pagan shrine that Jeroboam son of Nebat had made when he led Israel into sin. Josiah crushed the stones to dust and burned the Asherah pole. - 2 Kings 23:15


  • Then as Josiah was looking around, he noticed several tombs in the side of the hill. He ordered that the bones be brought out, and he burned them on the altar at Bethel to desecrate it. This happened just as the LORD had promised through the man of God as Jeroboam stood beside the altar at the festival. Then Josiah turned and looked up at the tomb of the man of God* who had predicted these things.3 - 2 Kings 23:16


  • "What is that monument over there?" Josiah asked. And the people of the town told him, "It is the tomb of the man of God who came from Judah and predicted the very things that you have just done to the altar at Bethel!" - 2 Kings 23:17


  • He executed the priests of the pagan shrines on their own altars, and he burned human bones on the altars to desecrate them. Finally, he returned to Jerusalem. - 2 Kings 23:20


  • Only Aaron and his descendants served as priests. They presented the offerings on the altar of burnt offering and the altar of incense, and they performed all the other duties related to the Most Holy Place. They made atonement for Israel by following all the commands that Moses, the servant of God, had given them. - 1 Chronicles 6:49


  • They sacrificed the regular burnt offerings to the LORD each morning and evening on the altar set aside for that purpose, obeying everything written in the law of the LORD, which he had given to Israel. - 1 Chronicles 16:40


  • Then the angel of the LORD told Gad to instruct David to build an altar to the LORD at the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite. - 1 Chronicles 21:18


  • David said to Araunah, "Let me buy this threshing floor from you at its full price. Then I will build an altar to the LORD there, so that he will stop the plague." - 1 Chronicles 21:22


  • "Take it, my lord, and use it as you wish," Araunah said to David. "Here are oxen for the burnt offerings, and you can use the threshing tools for wood to build a fire on the altar. And take the wheat for the grain offering. I will give it all to you." - 1 Chronicles 21:23


  • David built an altar there to the LORD and sacrificed burnt offerings and peace offerings. And when David prayed, the LORD answered him by sending fire from heaven to burn up the offering on the altar. - 1 Chronicles 21:26


  • At that time, the Tabernacle of the LORD and the altar that Moses made in the wilderness were located at the hill of Gibeon. - 1 Chronicles 21:29


  • Then David said, "This will be the location for the Temple of the LORD God and the place of the altar for Israel's burnt offerings!" - 1 Chronicles 22:1


  • Finally, he designated the amount of refined gold for the altar of incense and for the gold cherubim, whose wings were stretched out over the Ark of the LORD's covenant. - 1 Chronicles 28:18


  • But the bronze altar made by Bezalel son of Uri and grandson of Hur was still at Gibeon in front of the Tabernacle of the LORD. So Solomon and the people gathered in front of it to consult the LORD. - 2 Chronicles 1:5


  • There in front of the Tabernacle, Solomon went up to the bronze altar in the LORD's presence and sacrificed a thousand burnt offerings on it. - 2 Chronicles 1:6


  • Solomon also made a bronze altar 30 feet long, 30 feet wide, and 15 feet high.*1 - 2 Chronicles 4:1


  • So Solomon made all the furnishings for the Temple of God: the gold altar; the tables for the Bread of the Presence; - 2 Chronicles 4:19
