(Read Peter Part 1 First)
Again Peter denied it, this time with an oath. "I don't even know the man," he said. - Matthew 26:72
Peter said, "I swear by God, I don't know the man." And immediately the rooster crowed. - Matthew 26:74
Suddenly, Jesus' words flashed through Peter's mind: "Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times." And he went away, crying bitterly. - Matthew 26:75
These are the names of the twelve he chose: Simon (he renamed him Peter), - Mark 3:16
Then Jesus stopped the crowd and wouldn't let anyone go with him except Peter and James and John. - Mark 5:37
Then Jesus asked, "Who do you say I am?" Peter replied, "You are the Messiah." - Mark 8:29
As he talked about this openly with his disciples, Peter took him aside and told him he shouldn't say things like that.*1 - Mark 8:32
Jesus turned and looked at his disciples and then said to Peter very sternly, "Get away from me, Satan! You are seeing things merely from a human point of view, not from God's." - Mark 8:33
Six days later Jesus took Peter, James, and John to the top of a mountain. No one else was there. As the men watched, Jesus' appearance changed, - Mark 9:2
"Teacher, this is wonderful!" Peter exclaimed. "We will make three shrines*--one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah."1 - Mark 9:5
Then Peter began to mention all that he and the other disciples had left behind. "We've given up everything to follow you," he said. - Mark 10:28
Peter remembered what Jesus had said to the tree on the previous day and exclaimed, "Look, Teacher! The fig tree you cursed has withered!" - Mark 11:21
Later, Jesus sat on the slopes of the Mount of Olives across the valley from the Temple. Peter, James, John, and Andrew came to him privately and asked him, - Mark 13:3
Peter said to him, "Even if everyone else deserts you, I never will." - Mark 14:29
"No!" Peter insisted. "Not even if I have to die with you! I will never deny you!" And all the others vowed the same. - Mark 14:31
He took Peter, James, and John with him, and he began to be filled with horror and deep distress. - Mark 14:33
Then he returned and found the disciples asleep. "Simon!" he said to Peter. "Are you asleep? Couldn't you stay awake and watch with me even one hour? - Mark 14:37
