(Read Jesus Part 1 First)
And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus,* for he will save his people from their sins."6 - Matthew 1:21
but she remained a virgin until her son was born. And Joseph named him Jesus. - Matthew 1:25
Jesus was born in the town of Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men* from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking,1 - Matthew 2:1
So Joseph returned immediately to Israel with Jesus and his mother. - Matthew 2:21
Then Jesus went from Galilee to the Jordan River to be baptized by John. - Matthew 3:13
But Jesus said, "It must be done, because we must do everything that is right.*" So then John baptized him.4 - Matthew 3:15
After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on him. - Matthew 3:16
Then Jesus was led out into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit to be tempted there by the Devil. - Matthew 4:1
But Jesus told him, "No! The Scriptures say, `People need more than bread for their life; they must feed on every word of God.'* "2 - Matthew 4:4
Jesus responded, "The Scriptures also say, `Do not test the Lord your God.'* "4 - Matthew 4:7
"Get out of here, Satan," Jesus told him. "For the Scriptures say, `You must worship the Lord your God; serve only him.'* "5 - Matthew 4:10
Then the Devil went away, and angels came and cared for Jesus. - Matthew 4:11
When Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he left Judea and returned to Galilee. - Matthew 4:12
From then on, Jesus began to preach, "Turn from your sins and turn to God, because the Kingdom of Heaven is near.*"8 - Matthew 4:17
One day as Jesus was walking along the shore beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers--Simon, also called Peter, and Andrew--fishing with a net, for they were commercial fishermen. - Matthew 4:18
Jesus called out to them, "Come, be my disciples, and I will show you how to fish for people!" - Matthew 4:19
Jesus traveled throughout Galilee teaching in the synagogues, preaching everywhere the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed people who had every kind of sickness and disease. - Matthew 4:23
