- But while Haran was still young, he died in Ur of the Chaldeans, the place of his birth. He was survived by Terah, his father. - Genesis 11:28
- Terah took his son Abram, his daughter-in-law Sarai, and his grandson Lot (his son Haran's child) and left Ur of the Chaldeans to go to the land of Canaan. But they stopped instead at the village of Haran and settled there. - Genesis 11:31

- "You are the LORD God, who chose Abram and brought him from Ur of the Chaldeans and renamed him Abraham. - Nehemiah 9:7
- For the Babylonians will come with all the Chaldeans from Pekod and Shoa and Koa. And all the Assyrians will come with them--handsome young captains, commanders, chariot officers, and other high-ranking officers, riding their horses. - Ezekiel 23:23
- So Abraham left the land of the Chaldeans and lived in Haran until his father died. Then God brought him here to the land where you now live. - Acts 7:4
