(Read Benaiah Part 1 First)
Benaiah went into the sacred tent of the LORD and said to Joab, "The king orders you to come out!" But Joab answered, "No, I will die here." So Benaiah returned to the king and told him what Joab had said. - 1 Kings 2:30
So Benaiah son of Jehoiada returned to the sacred tent and killed Joab, and Joab was buried at his home in the wilderness. - 1 Kings 2:34
Then the king appointed Benaiah to command the army in place of Joab, and he installed Zadok the priest to take the place of Abiathar. - 1 Kings 2:35
Then, at the king's command, Benaiah son of Jehoiada took Shimei outside and killed him. So the kingdom was now firmly in Solomon's grip. - 1 Kings 2:46
Benaiah son of Jehoiada was commander of the army. Zadok and Abiathar were the priests. - 1 Kings 4:4
Elioenai, Jaakobah, Jeshohaiah, Asaiah, Adiel, Jesimiel, Benaiah, - 1 Chronicles 4:36
There was also Benaiah son of Jehoiada, a valiant warrior from Kabzeel. He did many heroic deeds, which included killing two of Moab's mightiest warriors. Another time he chased a lion down into a pit. Then, despite the snow and slippery ground, he caught the lion and killed it. - 1 Chronicles 11:22
Another time, armed with only a club, he killed an Egyptian warrior who was seven and a half feet* tall and whose spear was as thick as a weaver's beam. Benaiah wrenched the spear from the Egyptian's hand and killed him with it.5 - 1 Chronicles 11:23
These are some of the deeds that made Benaiah as famous as the Three. - 1 Chronicles 11:24
Ithai son of Ribai from Gibeah (from the tribe of Benjamin); Benaiah from Pirathon; - 1 Chronicles 11:31
The following men were chosen as their assistants: Zechariah, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, and the gatekeepers, Obed-edom and Jeiel. - 1 Chronicles 15:18
Zechariah, Aziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Maaseiah, and Benaiah were chosen to play the lyres.*3 - 1 Chronicles 15:20
Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai, Zechariah, Benaiah, and Eliezer--all of whom were priests--were chosen to blow the trumpets as they marched in front of the Ark of God. Obed-edom and Jehiah were chosen to guard the Ark. - 1 Chronicles 15:24
Asaph, the leader of this group, sounded the cymbals. His assistants were Zechariah (the second), then Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-edom, and Jeiel. They played the harps and lyres. - 1 Chronicles 16:5
The priests, Benaiah and Jahaziel, played the trumpets regularly before the Ark of God's covenant. - 1 Chronicles 16:6
Benaiah son of Jehoiada was captain of the king's bodyguard.* David's sons served as the king's chief assistants.6 - 1 Chronicles 18:17
Benaiah son of Jehoiada the priest was commander of the third division, which was on duty during the third month. There were twenty-four thousand troops in his division. - 1 Chronicles 27:5
