Full Armor of God

QUESTION: What is the purpose of the full armor of God?

ANSWER:

The purpose of the full armor of God is to provide the believer with the spiritual tools needed to stand their ground during life’s daily spiritual struggles.

Scripture makes it clear that our struggle is not with flesh and blood. In other words, our struggles in life have a spiritual root. The enemy of God hates those whom God loves. That means God’s enemy hates every person who walks the face of the earth. As a result, he works diligently to remove people from a healthy understanding of God’s love or to remove them from an effective Christian lifestyle.

To keep this from happening in them, or even those around them, the believer must stand their ground in the mighty power of God. That power is passed on to the believer through salvation, truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and the Word of God—the six attributes found in the armor of God. All six are given to the believer for so we can be spiritual victorious!

The Full Armor of God – Continual Use
Believers in Christ are called to utilize the full armor of God. Not doing so will expose the believer to the enemy’s schemes. The enemy is cunning and is always looking to negatively affect people’s lives. He knows that he is unable to access a believer’s life without permission. Thus, the moment we operate without the protective coverings that God provides, he will take advantage of it.

1 Peter 5:8 says, “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”

God provides His people with the tools they need to stand their ground. His people simply need to use those tools in order to thwart the schemes of the enemy and render him useless.

WHAT DO YOU THINK? - We have all sinned and deserve God's judgment. God, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him. Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buried, and rose from the dead according to the Bible. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring, "Jesus is Lord," you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven.
