Am I Good Enough?

FAQ: Wow. So even if I've done some pretty bad stuff, I can still be a Christian? What else do I need to do in order to go to heaven when I die?

God is perfectly holy. Therefore, He cannot stand to look at sin - any kind of sin. All men and women are sinners. Therefore, sin has separated all mankind from God - including you and me. As a result, none of us can bridge the gap to God and enter heaven on our own merits.

Since God requires perfection, someone needed to live a life free from sin, and die as a sacrifice for all humanity, paying the price of death that sin brought to all mankind. That man of perfection was Jesus. He lived a sinless life, and then gave His life for us so that we might live. Then, after three days in the grave, Jesus rose again to conquer death and the curse of sin. His resurrection from the dead set us free and allowed us the opportunity through salvation to spend eternity with Him in heaven. Jesus was the only person who could be this sacrifice for all humanity. He was perfect, He committed no sin, and He laid down His life so that we might have life if we believe in Him. Going to heaven isn't about following a religion or doing enough "good works" - it's about accepting what Jesus Christ did on the cross as payment for our individual sins. By accepting His free gift of salvation, we can be sure we're going to heaven.

WHAT DO YOU THINK? - We have all sinned and deserve God's judgment. God, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him. Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buried, and rose from the dead according to the Bible. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring, "Jesus is Lord," you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven.
