And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ - to the glory and praise of God. Philippians 1:9-11
Prayer: Lord, my prayer today is an unusual one. My prayer comes from deep inside my spirit that yearns to see people living in peace and harmony with You and with one another. My prayer reaches out to You and seeks to find Your power and Your truth being released as never before.
I ask You Lord that where you find doubt You provide truth. If there are any who call You God yet have never called You Lord and Savior, I ask You to shower them with Your truth so they fully understand the relationship vital to salvation. If You find people who consider themselves saved, yet have never really been led to the Lord, I ask You raise up a church and people around them to show them the truth so they can be released into their true potential.
Lord, there are multitudes among us who are confused and there is much muddy water that needs to be purified for drinking from the River of Life. Help us as leaders to speak the truth. Help us to hold out our arms and welcome the broken hearted and rejected. Release us into Your truth and into the true church life You have prepared for all of us. Your River of Life flows throughout the entire world and reaches into the furthermost places. It is a river that often becomes a flood that threatens to overflow the banks - and that is exciting to see. But man-made dams that for a season prevent the unobstructed flow of its power can also stop it. When You see this happen, I ask You to break down whatever barriers there are that have been built up by the enemy and by our own human egos and agendas.
Send Your fire Lord to remove the things that stand in the way of living the life of fulfillment and purpose You have promised for Your surrendered children. I know You will shake up anything that is not firmly rooted, as Your desire is to purify Your people, and see Your will accomplished all over the land. If we need to humble ourselves before You, help us please to recognize our need so you will not have to do it for us. Remove false pride from Your church and Your people and restore us to the grandeur You planned for u s all along. I know beyond any doubt that You far prefer to show us mercy instead of judgment. I also know Your intention is to have a church ready to receive Her Bridegroom. Save us from presumption and don’t let us fall backwards into claiming ignorance or becoming so caught up in our own “needs and wants” that we miss You entirely. That’s far too terrible a price to pay.
Hear the cry of all who pray thus prayer as they bow their heads and repent. Forgive us Lord for the lukewarmness and complacency that now covers so many of our churches, cities and nations. Make us accountable for our own walk so we can model the light that reflects from the heart of Jesus living within us. Return us to the intimacy with You that sustains us and empowers us and never, I pray, let us lose it again. If You see Your people fleeing from You Lord, catch them in Your great fishnet and get them back to the boat where they belong. Wake us up Lord so we can hear Your call and help us to use all we have been given for Your purposes. We must not allow Satan to rob us of our victories so help us to call out to You for wisdom and guidance.
Reflect: The Lord is calling His church to impact the world, which is presently being held firmly in the grip of a people consumed by his or her own self-interests and concerns. Only as we grow stronger in our intimacy with Him can we begin the process of taking back that which was lost. He will accomplish what He wants to accomplish but He wants us to be in on it with Him. Where do You stand - seek Him now and ask for His truth. Repent if necessary and get on with it.
